For Wednesday, January 6th, 2010
a pictorial journal
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JANUARY 6TH, 2010
It's WEDNESDAY…
The view from my front porch doesn’t change much this time of year. This picture was taken about the same time only last year. The snow is slowly accumulating here and I haven’t had to shovel much at all. My next door neighbors have been helping out with the snow and that makes a big difference. I get my broom and sweep the steps and the walkways a little each day and that’s been about it.

THINKING
Every morning, we have the ability to rise and begin a brand-new day with a fresh, new, positive attitude.
Our inner nature is being renewed day by day
2 Corinthians 4:16
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
It is time to throw out the old and bring in the new for sure.
All the bits and pieces taking up space in my fridge from the holidays just needs to go.
Here is a quick recipe for using up those leftovers
A Catchall Casserole
1 c Onion; finely chopped
1 tbsp. Butter or margarine
2 c Cooked chicken; diced
(or-turkey, ham, pork or roast-beef)
1 c Cooked mixed vegetables
1 can Cream of chicken soup;
(10-3/4 ounce)
1 tsp. Poultry Seasoning
(For-Chicken Or Turkey, Only)
1 tsp. Celery salt
1/8 tsp. Black pepper
1/2 c Chicken broth
1 c Grated Cheddar cheese
Place onion and butter in a 2 quart casserole. Cover with wax paper.
Microwave at high (100%) until tender, 2 to 3 minutes. Combine all
ingredients except cheese, with onions. Cover with wax paper. Microwave at
medium high (70%) until heated through, 12 to 14 minutes. Sprinkle with
cheese. Microwave at medium high (70%) until cheese is melted, 3 to 4
minutes. Makes 6 servings.
NOTE: If using ham, use cream of asparagus soup. If using leftover roast
pork, use cream of celery soup. If using leftover roast beef, use cream of
mushroom soup.
PRAYERS
Let me pause as I begin this new day to give it to You, Lord. Before the tumult of activities breaks in; for this last moment in my bed, thank you, Lord. Let me hold Your promise of new life. Keep me from slipping back for I know that what is forgiven is as if it never were. Each new day, Your grace gives me a fresh start to walk in Your light again.
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
DS#5 has a big SMILE FOR US
AROUND HOME
I guess we might as well SMILE. There is not much we can do about the freezing cold and snow. The roads were much better yesterday than they were the day before but we still have that Snow in the forecast. This morning there is even an alert for freezing rain and drizzle. It’s below freezing so I’m not quite sure how it could rain.
Take good care all !
Before long we’ll begin to notice the days getting longer and see a little more sun too. I like to think that Spring is just not very far away now. Buried under that frozen snow is new life just waiting to thaw out once more and grow.
I’ve about used up the New Years pictures and need to take some new ones, in the mean time you’ll see a lot of pictures of this past year of camping as that is what I seem to have a lot of.
FAMILY ALBUM
This is a Prince Charming trying out the golf carts that we use when we go camping. This was the when they were brand new and hadn’t made it to the campground yet.
COUNTING THE DAYS
It won’t be long now…
72 DAYS UNTIL SPRING !
100 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
