For Sunday, January 24th, 2010
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JANUARY 24th, 2010
It's SUNDAY!
It’s a great morning here and I’m sipping the good coffee and enjoying it as always.
As usual for a Sunday I’ll be off to church later on but right now I’ve got some quiet time to just relax.
Yesterday I really didn’t get a lot done at all but I did get some much needed rest. And I made it out to the library finally so now I’m got plenty of reading material and it didn’t cost a cent.
THINKING
We may fret, worry and fear about many things and yet God reminds us that we will be strengthened for any challenge, difficulty or pothole that that lies ahead.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you came to birth I consecrated you. I for my part today will make you into a fortified city, a pillar of iron and a wall of bronze to confront everything. Nothing shall overcome you, for I am with you to deliver you.
Jeremiah 1:4-5. 17-18
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
NO BAKE CEREAL BARS
1cup light corn syrup
1cup sugar
1 1/4cups peanut butter
6cups Cheerios® cereal
1bag (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
Lightly butter 13x9-inch pan. In 4- to 5-quart Dutch oven, heat corn syrup and sugar to boiling over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Cook until sugar is dissolved; remove from heat. Add 1 cup of the peanut butter; stir until smooth. Add cereal; mix well. Immediately press in buttered pan
In 2-quart saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate chips with remaining 1/4 cup peanut butter, stirring constantly. Spread evenly over bars. Refrigerate about 30 minutes or cool completely at room temperature until chocolate is set. For bars, cut into 9 rows by 4 rows
PRAYERS
Lord, your heart is beautiful! Come and soften my heart, and re-create it to be like yours, a heart of mercy, justice, and compassion
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AMEN
AROUND HOME
I’ll be doing a little catching up today after my lazy day yesterday. On the calendar for the week ahead there is nothing much but work going on.
That means there will be some quiet evenings and that is a good thing.
Colder weather is headed our way again this week. It was nice going outside and not freezing for awhile. I noticed that warmer days were starting to bring out the little buds on our pussy willow tree, but it’s a little early for them yet.
FAMILY
The priceless gift of life is love
For with the help of God above
Love can change the human race
And make this world a better place
For love dissolves all hate and fear
And makes our vision bright and clear
So we can see and rise above
Our pettiness on wings of love
