ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
October 31ST, 2009
It's SATURDAY…
HAPPY ALL HALLOWS EVE!
Tomorrow is Fall Back day, the end of daylight saving time, a day to reset clocks to standard time. Might as well do it tonight; huh?
Back one hour…
This is the last and final warning !
THINKING
It would be a grand ‘beach’ day, but instead I’m working away trying to sort things out here at home. I have cleaning and laundry and lots of trips up and down the stairs to make.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Some tips today:
COFFEE FILTERS
Coffee filters ..who knew! And you can buy 1,000 at the Dollar Tree for almost nothing.
OH YEAH THEY ARE GREAT TO USE IN YOUR COFFEE MAKERS
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
It’s supposed to start out cloudy and much cooler here. It was above 70 degrees when I got home from work yesterday! It looks like our Indian Summer weather has come to an end.
PEOPLE
DD and her hubby are visiting relatives this weekend so we’ll be praying for safe travels for them.
PLACES
In case you haven’t had your fill of leaves, I thought this picture would show you what the trees will soon look like. This was taken in December a few years ago when DS#2 and his children were here.
PRAYERS
Jesus, to the humble You show kindness. May I bow humbly before You every day of my life
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
It looks like a great evening for some popcorn and a movie but my favorite channel is showing Halloween movies tonight. I’m not so sure if I’m up to that or not.
TO DO
At the end of every month I try and change my furnace filter. When I had pets at home it really needed it by then. I still do it anyway. They say it helps keep your furnace efficient.
FAMILY ALBUM
This is DD and I at their campground a few years ago before I started camping again.

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
October 30th, 2009
It's FINALLY FRIDAY!
This is my favorite day of the week for sure. I’ll be off to work as usual but then as soon as I leave there today, the weekend will be here.
I’m having fun looking through my files and deciding on which picture to put in my newsletter each day. Some of these I haven’t looked at for a long long time.
I need to back them up on disks and remove some from the computer though as I’m really accumulating a lot. As I don’t get to see my babes very often, they keep me supplied with new ones all the time.
THINKING
Everything we have is a gift from God. The only thing that is truly ours that we have to give to him is our sins
Something DS#3 heard in church last Sunday
Isn’t it true. We really don’t own anything or anyone. Everything we have has been given to us.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
I really don’t need any more dishes but I did find a few cereal/ soup bowls really cheap at the Goodwill store yesterday.
I didn’t have any shopping to do after I did the errands for work so I stopped in there to browse around. It’s amazing sometimes what you can find there.
A while back I threw out a lot of my old ones because they had become chipped. These don’t really match my set, but they are the same color.
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
It’s a day to carry the umbrella here. It’s supposed to rain today and all through the weekend.
PEOPLE
I had fun with Trick or Treat last night. We didn’t have too many but the weather was nice for us to sit outside
PLACES
I miss my campfire evenings. I often wish there was a fireplace here, but I have central heating and nothing else.
PRAYERS
Please join me in praying for DDIL#3 today. She has the flu and is also expecting their new baby very soon. May our dear Lord bless her with healing and a speedy recovery.
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AMEN
AROUND HOME
As it is Friday I’ll enjoy being home now for the weekend. There is nothing much planned other than blessing the house with a little TLC and of course my R & R on Sunday
TO DO
Today I need to pick up just a few things so I think I’ll stop at the farmers market to get some food for the weekend. I need some oranges of course and maybe some of their good maple nut rolls
FAMILY ALBUM
It is a beach day…This was DS#1 and Our Prince Charming a few years back at one of their campouts.
COUNTING THE DAYS
52 DAYS UNTIL WINTER !
56 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
AND
168 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS

New format for my newsletter today...
PRAYERS
I'm always praying for our military and for peace in the world
If you have any prayer requests I'd be glad to add them here
My friends sister, who had the surgery that we prayed for last week is doing well and is recovering more day by day. She says THANK YOU for the prayers!
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
PEOPLE
I am missing that time spent on the porch swing
PLACES
AROUND HOME
I will be very glad when the weekend comes and I can get some more done at home. I every good intention of tackling my craft room…oh dear, that is a job!
TO DO
This was before my next door sister took the mower to the leaves and mulched them last weekend… Our tree is empty now but I’m sure there will be more from the neighboring trees
October colors down our street
I don't know if you all will like this way of doing my newsletter or not but I had about exhausted all the poems quotes and stories I could find to share. Not wanting to infringe upon others copyrights and such I've decided just to do my own thing.
This way I can still keep in touch with family and friends and hopefully keep us all looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things

TODAY'S THOUGHT
There may be those on earth who dress better or eat better, but those who enjoy the peace of God sleep better
L. Thomas Holdcroft
JUST FOR TODAY
We all need to look for the silver linings in our day-to-day lives
Just for today: I will turn to God in prayer with faith and expectancy, knowing there is a way through any shadow into the light
TODAY’S QUOTE
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other
Mother Teresa
IT’S WEDNESDAY !!
OVER THE HUMP DAY!
It seems like it should be Friday, but I know there is still 2 more days til that happens so I’ll be hanging in there as usual.
I finally got my hair cut yesterday evening, but the gal that cuts my hair still wasn’t feeling 100% I think she’s planning on a trip to the doctor since whatever she had isn’t all gone yet. I just hope I don’t catch whatever she has.
Cold and flu bugs are all over the place and I still believe the best things you can do is wash those hands often, eat a well balance diet including lots of oranges for that extra C and get lots of rest. When you get run down is when you get sick so make sure you get those 8 or so hours of sleep too. I know a few of my babes like to burn the midnight hours.
Today we’re supposed to have some rain. Still it’s better than snow but …
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Father, I know that your love is sustaining me right now. Grant me the grace to hope in you and to trust that you hold my future in your loving hands

your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the

TODAY’S REFLECTION
If we hope for what we do not see, we wait with endurance.
Romans 8:25
We can hope that our situation improves, that things turn out for the best, or that heaven awaits us. Those are all future events that can help keep us moving forward, and they are appropriate petitions to lay before the Father. But far more powerful is placing our hope in the God who loves us here and now, and who will never abandon us

Happy Terrific Tuesday everyone! We made it though another Monday so today must be a good one!

Today is supposed to be just a little cooler with a few clouds but still nice. Thursday evening is our Trick or Treat night so I’m hoping this mild weather stays around for awhile.

TODAY'S THOUGHT
We should be careful to get out of an experience only the wisdom that is in it, and stop there; lest we be like the cat that sits down on a hot stove-lid. She will never sit down on a hot stove-lid again, and that is well; but also she will never sit down on a cold one anymore
Mark Twain

TODAY’S SMILE
A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, How heavy is this glass of water?Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.
The lecturer replied, The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it.If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.
In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes. He continued, And that's the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on. As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden.
So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down. Don't carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you're carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can."So, my friend, why not take a while to just simply RELAX.
Put down anything that may be a burden to you right now. Don't pick it up again until after you've rested a while.
Life is short.
One more…
Here are some great ways of dealing with the stresses of life:
Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.
Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.
Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.
Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their maker.
If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
Never buy a car you can't push.
Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.
Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.
The second mouse gets the cheese.
When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.
You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
We could learn a lot from crayons...Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour
TODAY’S REFLECTION
Jesus asked him, 'What do you want Me to do for you?'
Mark 10:51
One of Jesus' favorite questions is: What do you want? Many times we don't know what we want, and Jesus challenges us to clarify this. Often we want things which are incompatible. We want to sin and still have a loving relationship with the Lord. We want to "do our own thing" and still be free
Set your eyes and your heart on Jesus
