The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
Slightly adapted from one of my morning devotionals
GOOD BYE JULY
Life is a special occasion!
Today is National Avocado Day which celebrates a delicious food item that has blossomed in popularity in recent years.
Avocados are considered a berry. Given the fleshy pulp and seed of the avocado, the green fruit meats the criteria of a berry. The history of the avocado consumption dates back around 10,000 years ago. However it is believed it didn’t start cultivating it until about 5,000 years ago in Mexico. Now avocados are enjoyed all around the world.
Celebrate today and enjoy some guacamole or avocado slices in a salad.
To see the bright side, polish the dull side
The real secret to guacamole is that you use the elements that you need, which is cilantro, onion, tomato, and jalapeños. And of course, avocado.

My favorite way to eat an avocado is in guacamole. It is a delicious dip. The first time I had it was at a party and it was very hot and too spicy for me. I didn’t care for it at all, but then I discovered the mild version and loved it. DS#1 started making it fresh for us when we used to camp together.
It’s so hard to believe another month has gone by. Time does fly by when you’re having fun. I can hardly wait to see what August will bring our way.
Today is another cloudy one, but I don’t think any rain is expected. It’s been pretty quiet here with everyone at work. My grandson spends most of the day in his room talking to friends or playing computer games with them. He only comes out for food. I sit out on the porch and read another book. Quiet days before school begins.
I could only find the one picture of guacamole and I have none of avocados so there is only one picture to show you today.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
. . . the avocado is a food without rival among fruits, the veritable fruit of paradise.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
You can’t sow an apple seed and expect to get an avocado tree. The consequences of your life are sown in what you do and how you behave.

Now I'm hungry for some guacamole! A long time ago a fellow I knew introduced me to eating avocado slices on black(brown) bread. I think he also spread a little mayo on the bread. Soooo good; I've not done that in a long time.
