The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
Slightly adapted from one of my morning devotionals
Life is a special occasion!
Today is National Day of the Cowboy which was started as a way to contribute to the preservation of America’s rich cowboy heritage.
There is a Cowboy’s Code of Conduct. The lack of any real written law in the Wild West made it very important for cowboys to create their own guidelines on how to live. These rules became known as the Code of the West. The rules weren’t written as statutes, but were always respected in the range.
Live each day with honesty and courage
Take pride in your work. Always do your best.
Stay curious. Study hard and learn all you can.
Do what has to be done and finish what you start.
Be tough, But fair.
When you make a promise, keep it.
Be clean in thought, word, deed and dress.
Practice tolerance and understanding of others.
Be willing to stand up for what is right.
Be an excellent steward of land and its animals.
To celebrate today you could dress like a cowboy, host a hoedown, attend a rodeo, go horseback riding, or curl up on the couch and watch you favorite Westerns. And don’t forget to try to follow the Code of the Wild West.
To see the bright side, polish the dull side
Thankfully, dreams can change. If we’d all stuck with our first dream, the world would be overrun with cowboys and princesses .

I haven’t been to any rodeos yet or seen many horses at all but I do have some pictures to share of a visit I made to Texas several years ago. Two of my sons and their families lived in Texas at the time. We went to a park that had bronze statues of a western cattle drive. They were large and looked very realistic. You could just imagine being part of the cattle drive. The cowboys would herd the cattle to market where it was sold.
I have seen signs for cattle farms here, but they are gated and you can’t go in. When I was a kid we used to watch cowboy movies all the time. My favorites were Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and I’ll never forget Gene Autrey.
I did get some cowboy boots to wear, just in case we go to a rodeo, but I don’t have a cowboy hat yet. I just wear my wide brimmed straw hat as protection from the hot sun.
This morning is very cloudy out and thanks to rain we got last night it is going to be cooler here today, in the 80’s. More rain is expected later today too.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
One must wait until the evening to see how splendid the day has been.
Will Rogers
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
12,524 for cowboys and all they do to get the beef to markets
12,525. for my straw hat that provides shade from the sun.
12,526. for rodeos to go to where cowboys can show off their skills.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Courage is being scared to death…and saddling up anyway.

A bit of love from someone dear…

Good one! Of course this coincides with my present Genre of reading. I am into Westerns. But Loved the pictures especially the one with the lifesize cattle. We have some here at the Villages entrance and love them every time I pass. I want one for our yard!!! LOL
As early as childhood, my heroes have always been Cowboys.
