The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
Slightly adapted from one of my morning devotionals
Life is a special occasion!
Today is National Cousins Day which celebrates the wonderful people that helped us endure our family get togethers and holidays. They were there to keep us company at the kids and for some they were the siblings we never had.
Sometimes it is confusing with all the different types of cousins. There are first cousins, once or twice removed, second cousins, and on and on.
Celebrate today and say thank you to your cousins for all they do for you. Find some time to chat over the phone to catch up or send them a card in the mail.
To see the bright side, polish the dull side
Cousins are friends that will love you forever.

I have over 30 cousins because my mom and dad each came from large families of 10 brothers and sisters and most had children. When I was young, my parents went visiting often and I got to know many of my cousins well. But since we’ve gotten older we don’t keep in touch much at all. A few of them read my posts that I send every day so at least I keep in touch with them.
My grandchildren have lots of cousins too. They don’t live close to each other, but visit during the holidays and special occasions. Now that we’re in Texas, we don’t see many at all. DSIL’s cousin and her family are coming to visit us this week. It’s sure to be a lot of fun, especially for my grandson who is excited to see his cousins.
A few years ago one of my aunts and uncles had a cousin reunion and we all gathered at my aunts house. They thought it was a shame that we didn’t get together so they decided to do something about it and that is the picture shown above.
This week has been much cooler here and we’ve had a lot of rain, so I’m hoping the weather improves so they can get out and see the sights together. After the hot days we’ve had it does feel wonderful to have temps in the 80’s though.
We went shopping yesterday and I found a set of rocking chairs and end tables at big lots to put out on the porch. They are very comfortable and just right for porch sitting. We found the set at Big Lots.Sad to say the store was ready for Halloween already. I hate to think of fall coming already. The stores area always ahead of things when it comes to the holidays, Thankfully they still had some outdoor furniture too.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
Time passes and we may be apart, but cousins always stay close at heart.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Cheers to our Cousins and the great memories we have together !
How fun to welcome y'all's first guests next week! I'm so glad you found comfortable seating for your porch sitting.
I've only 4 living cousins, but sad to say we've few shared memories because of geographical distance. Tho' we're friends on FB, no-one's expressed interest in ever getting together. That's life, I guess.
