The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
Slightly adapted from one of my morning devotionals
Life is a special occasion!
Today is World Listening Day which is a day to celebrate all the sounds around you. It’s a day to practice less talking and more listening. This date honors the birthday of Raymond Murray Schafer, a Canadian composer and environmentalist who is the founder of acoustic ecology. Born July 18, 1933, he developed his World Souncscape Project, which laid the fundamentamental ideas and practices of acoustic ecology in the 1970’s.
Listening is an art that requires undivided attention and patience from a person and benefits another who is in need of it. It is also beneficial for the listener, improving their skills and sharpening their awareness of their surroundings. As important as our sense of hearing is, we often don’t use it effectively, blocking out most sounds and voices and really not listening to the message.
With the hustle and bustle of daily life, we rarely stop to listen to our surroundings — the sounds around us, what people are trying to communicate, and even our inner voice.
To celebrate, Listen to friends, family and have heart to heart conversations. Comforting others and listening to them vent is therapeutic and beneficial for both the speaker and the listener. Staying silent and contemplating the world calms and soothes our thoughts.
To see the bright side, polish the dull side
I remind myself every morning: Nothing I say this day will teach me anything. So if I’ going to learn, I must do it by listening.

I love to listen to others and to the sounds around me. Right now it is raining and I hear some thunder in the background. Thankfully I’m under a covered porch and am staying dry.
The rain is very needed here and is a blessing. It’s a gentle rain without much wind blowing. I don’t think there is much more of a peaceful feeling than listening to the rain fall.
My grandson is at a water park today and I’m sure they are not happy to see the rain. Depending on how long it lasts, will probably make a difference in how long they stay there.
This evening we’re hoping to have a pizza dinner with DS#2 and family. Sounds like fun and it’s been awhile since we had dinner out with them.
Not a bod day in our neighborhood...
I hope you all have a GREAT day! Happy Thursday!
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
Leo Buscaglia
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
12,509 for ears that hear
12,510. for sounds everywhere
12,511.for dinner out this evening with family
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.

Celebrate and really listen to the sounds all around you. I'm just thankful I can haar them!
Okay I totally agree - I think the hardest thing a person can do in a conversation is to be quiet and LISTEN!
