ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
TUESDAY, JULY 6TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Fried Chicken Day which honors a classic American dish. To make this flavorful favorite, coat a pice of chicken in a homamade batter and fry it, it’s easy! The result is a piece of perfectly cooked chicken that’s crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
While American fried chicken that we know and love has roots in the Southern United States, Europeans have been frying chicken since the Middle Ages. During that time, cooks discovered that covering meat in flour and spices before cooking it helped seal in the flavor and made it easier to eat on the go.
It’s a great time to try out a new recipe or order it from a local restaurant. Corn, mashed potatoes and biscuits are all great accompaniments for fried chicken. Dig in !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The best comfort food will always be greens, cornbread and fried chicken.

My favorite place to get fried Chicken is KFC. It’s always good and perfectly cooked. It’s a treat for me and most of the time I make my own, but I’ve discovered the best way to make it for a crowd is baking it on a cookie sheet in the oven. And now that I have an Air Fryer, I can do it up healthier if I used that. Cold fried chicken is very good too and we used to take that for our picnic food often.
My grandchildren like to call it chicken with the bone in. They love fried chicken legs and thighs. I happen to love the wings!
But for today I’m having some leftover Ceasar Chicken pasta salad. No doubt it will be healthier than fried chicken, but still I’ll enjoy it. Our weather is still very hot out and this will make a perfect meal for me. I love to sprinkle some croutons on top of it too. It’s a good day to stay in the house and keep cool or head for the pool.
I don’t have any chicken pictures to share today except for my chicken dishes. They are my favorite ones to use.
I hope you have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
You don’t want to make a steady diet of just lettuce. You don’t want to make a steady diet of fried chicken.

There's nothing like a little comfort food. Fried chicken is delicious !
Fried chicken is always delicious! I love your beautiful chicken dishes Ma. Enjoy your leftover Caesar Chicken pasta today and stay in and nice and cool. We are just now starting to get the pouring rain coming in from tropical storm Elsa but we don't expect high winds until this evening.
"Chicken with the bone in." That's so cute!
My DIL recently prepared healthy-but-delicious wings on Saturday (wish I'd got a better picture). She'd first boiled them, then hard baked them on a cookie sheet, lightly brushed with olive oil and seasoned with lemon pepper.
My favorite little kids' story: Years ago, the man for whom I worked had two little granddaughters living in the U.K. After one summer's visit, his daughter wrote about the 7 y/o getting into an argument at school over her favorite food - chicken fingers. A little boy said, "Chickens don't have fingers!" To which the little girl replied, "Well, on my granddaddy's ranch in Texas they do!"
Well, I think I'm gonna go fry me some chicken!!
YUMMY!
