ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY, MAY 15TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is the International Day of Families 2020 which was established by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1992. In human context, a family is a group of people affiliated by consanguinity, affinity, or co-residence. In most societies it is the principal institution for the socialization of children.
From the perspective of children, the family is a family orientation: the family serves to locate children socially and plays a major role in their culture and socialism. From the point of view of the parents, the family is a family of procreation, the goal of which is to produce and enculturate and socialize children.
However, producing children is not the only function of the family; it is necessary for the formation of an economically productive household.
Happy International Family Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Family is where life begins and love never ends.

I’m happy to say I have a large and loving family. My family has become my life. I couldn’t imagine a day without any one of them. They give me my purpose in life. They are my happiness. I loved having all of them and for years it was my full time job taking care of them. When I went back to work, I was only able to do so because they all pitched in and helped out. Every one had a job to do and they did it well. When everyone worked together it didn’t take long to get the housework done. DS#1 and #2 were my left and right arms and helped to keep it all together. I could count on them to make sure the younger ones towed the line.
One thing we always had was plenty of family time. No matter what else happened Sundays were always a day for family activities and fun. During the week they had their time to pursue individual activities like sports or scouting , but one day a week, they knew was dedicated to do something all together with family.
There are all kinds of family. Some of my friends are like family and some of my family are my best fronds too. I missed them so much when they all grew up, left home and got married. Now they all have homes and families of their own. But we love it when we can get together and that is what the pictures are of today , our family vacation in Florida this past Christmas. I’ve shown the pictures before but this is the last time we were all together.
Even at that, though we were still missing DS#3 and his family and three of DS#2’s children. Sadly they weren’t able to join us.
With time and distance separating all of us, I try to take advantage of any time I get to spend with any of them. It isn’t often that we can come together like that. And I’m very thankful for the ones that made the effort to take time to do so.
I love my family. each and every one and they are all very appreciated !
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties

may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

You really do have an amazing family! I love seeing pics of y’all! So happy you had that time together in Florida!
Family: We may not have it all together, but together we have it all.
Even as a 'bystander' I can appreciate what a wonderful vacation you enjoyed last Christmas! What would we be without our warm memories? Reading what you said about each of your children pitching in? I'll bet your daughters-in-law are mighty appreciative of the way in which you raised their husbands!
You do have a wonderful family Ma! I like to hear about them. Maybe with the nice weather you guys can visit each other who are local by being outside practicing social distancing. We have done that a few times with son. It helped not feel so out of touch with each other.

Happy Family Day! It sounds like you've got a LOT to celebrate! One of the blessings of raising a family is when they are full-grown, and you realize you'd love them and enjoy hanging out with them... even if they weren't your children. :)
Have a wonderful weekend!
