ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, MAY 16TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Armed Forces Day which honors all of the men and women who serve our country and protect our freedom . In 1949, Louis Johnson, the Secretary of Defense, suggested that the United States should have a day to celebrate all the military branches. On February 9, 1950, President Truman proclaimed the first ever Armed Forces Day.
Communities all across the country celebrate Armed Forces Day with parades, receptions and air shows. There is a different theme for the vent every year. Some past examples included liberty, freedom, professionalism, and security.
To celebrate today, Thank our Armed Forces for all they do..
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.

Both DS#2 and his wife are now retired military. They each served our country well for over 20 years. And because of them I know just how much they sacrificed to serve their country. They both loved their jobs and I’m a proud mom and thank them for all their service. Not only them, but every military man or woman does so much that we aren’t ever aware of and deserve our thanks and appreciation.
They were in the Navy, and the only ones in my family to choose the military as a career, but my DDH was in the Air Force and my Dad was in the Army. DS#2 wanted to see the world and he did see a good part of it. Hearing all their stories of duty and commitment never fails but to impress me. I will never forget to remember all the sacrifices they’ve made to protect our country.
The pictures today are of DS#2 and his wife and of my flower boxes which I finally got planted on Thursday, They are where I display the American Flag which I fly proudly every day.
Hard to believe it is Saturday once more and its my day to cook for the weekend. One of my cousins shared this recipe this week and it really sounds good to me.

may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Thank you to all the members of our Armed Forces today !
Absolutely! There's never a wrong time to thank active members and vets alike for their commitment. My dad was a Navy man, while my son served in the Army.
So glad you found a way in which to fly your American flag. I seem to remember that was a challenge when you first moved.
Nice flowers! Always grateful for those who serve our country! That recipe looks delicious! I bet kids would like it too!
