ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, MAY 9TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
44 DAYS UNTIL SUMMER
Sunrise: 6:16 am
Sunset: 8:34 pm
Life is a special occasion!!
Today is Lost Sock Memorial Day which is when we mourn the lost socks in our lives. . It’s a problem known to many people; a drawer full of socks and stockings some of which no longer have a partner. The reason for the disappearance of single socks is still one of the unsolved mysteries of the world. Many suggest that we take the day as a chance to clean out your sock drewares and say good by to the wistful widows and sorrowful singles.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Some socks are loners. They can’t live in pairs
I have a drawer in my dresser that is reserved for lost socks. I keep them separated from the rest so that when I find a spare sock I know where to look for it’s mate. Sooner or later they do seem to show up, so I never throw out any of those singles without a mate. I’v found most of mine clinging inside another item of clothing. Very often They are found inside a pants leg or inside a shirt I’m about to put on. I guess it’s the electricity in the air that cause them to cling from drying my clothes in clothes dryer. If I remembered to give everything a good shake and check inside the clothes before I put them away, I’d probably alliviate the problem. Ha .
It’s the weekend again already and time for me to fix a weekend meal so I won’t have to cook tomorrow. This week I’m hungry for something different and have decided to make up beef and noodles which means a crockpot meal for me.
I have just enough noodles left to make this dish and also some cubed beef in the freezer.
Slow Cooker Amish Beef and Noodles
Makes 8 servings
2 1/2 lb chuck roast, cut into cubes
1 packet onion soup mix
1 packet Au jus mix
1 can beef consommé
12 oz. can mushrooms
1 10 oz. can can cream of mushroom soup
8 oz. medium egg noodles
1 up milk
Mashed potatoes for serving
Place the beef cubes in the slow cooker and sprinkle with the onion soup mix and d the au jus mix. Pour the consommé ond cream of mushroom soup over top and mix together. Add the mushrooms.
Cook on low for 6 hours.
Shred the beef cubes in the broth. Stir in the noodles. Recover and cook on High 1 hour. Pour the milk in and mix throughly. You can also add 1/2 cup of sour cream for added flavor. Scoop mashed potatoes onto a plate and top with beef and noodles. Serve with a side of vegetables or a salad.
Looks like a very quiet weekend here as usual. Usually I’ll get some flowers from the kids to enjoy but right now it’s too cold outside for them to grow. Hopefully it’s going to warm up soon. Luckily I have pictures from previous years and that is what is in the pictures today.
I hope you all have a Super Saturday!
