ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is also International Puzzle Day which honors puzzles of all sizes, shapes and forms. You can celebrate the day by solving one or more puzzles. A puzzle is a problem or enigma that tests the ingenuity of the solver. In a basic puzzle, one is intended to put together pieces in a logical way in order to come up with the desired solution.
The first jigsaw puzzle was created around 1760 when John Spilsbury, a British Engraver and mapmaker, mounted a map on a sheet of wood that he then sawed around each individual country. Spilsbury used the product in teaching geography. After catching on with the wider public, this remained the primary use of Jigsaw puzzles until about 1820. By the early 20th century, magazines and newspapers found that they could increase their daily subscriptions by publishing puzzle contests. Puzzles may also include letters, numbers, shapes and riddles.
With the advent of digital entertainment, the common puzzle may be falling by the wayside. Today is your chance to go back to basics and do a jigsaw, solve a crossword or buy a Rubik’s Cube.
January 29th is also Corn Chip Day, and Seeing Eye Dog Day

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Life is something like a remarkable, exciting puzzle. It comes piece by piece in packages marked days.
John Powell
There is a lot to celebrate today, but first and foremost it is the birthday of one of my grandson’s who I fondly call our Star. I won’t be seeing him today but have sent out a card with lots of love and birthday wishes. He is a young man now and not a boy, and is a wonderful big brother to all of his siblings too.
They say working puzzles is very good for us as they provide great stimulation to the brain and they can provide hours of fun, especially when you have someone to do them with. Last year I tried in vain to work one but, alas, I finally gave up. This year I plan to get a simpler one with a few less pieces and see what I can do with that. They help to pass the time on cold winter days and provide some great entertainment for the whole family.
Winter is just starting and for us here in Ohio, we still have February and March to go before we can comfortably get outside. Kids especially tend to get bored with the long winter evenings and need something different to do.
I love the crunch and salty goodness of a corn chip and they are an amazing way to add texture to a casserole for a tasty treat.
Cheesy Crunch Chicken Casserole
1 onion diced
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 can diced tomatoes with chilis
2 chicken breast cooked and cubed
12 oz bag of corn chips
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Heat a tbsp. of vegetable oil in a large skillet. Add onions and sauté until soft and translucent. Add cream of chicken soup, diced tomatoes and chicken. Mix well and heat until mixture is bubbling.
Coat a casserole dish with cooking spray. Make a layer of corn chips on the bottom. Spoon chicken mixture over the layer of chips followed by a layer of cheese. Continue layering until you run out of ingredients. Bake for about 30 minutes or until casserole is bubbly. Let cool. This recipe makes 4 cups.
I’m all about comfort food these days and am looking forward to giving this recipe a try. I’ve not made it before, but it does sound very good.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Every day is sort of a jigsaw puzzle. You have to make sure that you’re putting the most important things first.

life is like a puzzle and we only need to fit the pieces together the best we can.
Happy birthday to Star! A handsome young man and great pictures of his family and your other grandchildren!
I haven't done a puzzle in years but always enjoyed making them. My mom would always get me a holiday puzzle for Christmas and then I would enjoy working it over Christmas break. They are fun to do and relaxing in the evenings.

Happy ☺ Birthday 🎂🎈
Happy Birthday to your 'Star' ... such a handsome young man!
I've only begun getting back to crosswords. It was truly an addiction at one time! Yes, I well remember my mother sitting at the kitchen table each morning with the newspaper word jumble. Fun! The only one I've tried and FAILED - and thus abandoned - is Sudodu.
What a sweet young man. In fact, what a sweet family!
In winter in Illinois in the 1960s, we always had a puzzle going. Good times.
