ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Strawberry Ice Cream Day which is a unofficial holiday that celebrates ice cream made with strawberries or added strawberry flavors.
It is believed that this popular ice cream flavor was invented in 1813 in the United Sates by First Lady Dolley Madison, and it was served during her husband’s, President James Madison, second inaugural banquet at the White House.
Modern day studies have shown that strawberries a good source of Vitamin C and consumption of the fruit can reduce levels of bad cholesterol.
To celebrate, have some strawberry ice cream today!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
We dare not trust our wit for making our house pleasant to our friend, so we buy ice cream.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I most always have some vanilla ice cream on hand here at my house and in honor of today I’ll be topping it off with some strawberry jam. I love strawberries, but don’t always have fresh ones on hand so jam will have to do. It’s my way of making do, without having to make a trip out to buy strawberry ice cream.
Making do with what I’ve got is my way of saving on groceries and it also helps me waste less. Not only does it save time and gas, but money too. Being one person here presents some challenges as far as cooking for one goes and I’ve learned a lot of ways to make do by finding substitutions for things that I don’t have. I try to limit the shopping I do because it is a waste of time and money for me.
Today I’m going to make an effort to continue my early Spring Cleaning and take the duster to all the blinds. Every window here has window blinds on it. It wasn’t my choice, but it’s the way things were when I moved in almost 2 years ago now. I haven’t yet decided on an alternate window covering, so dusting them is another way of making do with what I’ve got. They are terrible dust collectors. So far the most effective duster I’ve found is a Swifter. It gets in all the nooks and crannies and is disposable too.
The life I lead may not be the most exciting one. Things are usually pretty quiet around here, but still there is a lot to do. Being a keeper of the house, no matter how humble, keeps me busy and happy too. Little by little I will be ready for Spring when it comes and I’m looking forward to getting outside.
There truly is a lot of joy to be had in the simple things.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
There is nothing wrong with me a little ice cream won’t fix.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6703. for strawberries, good and good for you
6704. for my Swifter, it does a good job
6705. for winter days, time to get ready for Spring
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
My advice to you is not to inquire why or whither, but just enjoy your ice cream while it’s on your plate — that’s my philosophy.
Thornton Wilder
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

Find JOY in the simple things...
There's never a lack of chores to be done, is there, MA. That fact is the reason it chaps my hide when a stay-at-home woman says she "doesn't work". Oh really?! Enjoy your ice cream today. Love, Andrea xoxo
I like the Swifter products too. They usually do a good job with what they are cleaning. I too like strawberry jam on vanilla ice cream. I don't eat ice cream though in the winter, makes me colder than I normally am, LOL :)
betty
Every few days my Tom makes himself a big bowl of vanilla ice cream with frozen strawberries atop. What a time he had yesterday with the electric mixer … splotches of red on the walls and countertops! (I wonder if he's ever thought about using jam!)
I loved my Swifter duster! For some reason, we don't get near the amount of dust we did while in Arizona. These days I'm using a "reach" contraption with a duster on the end I can unpin and throw in the wash. (Now I just need to USE it - ha.)
We have some blinds left over from when we first moved here. It is a love-hate relationship. Strawberry ice cream day. That makes for a great afternoon adventure.
I am a nester. A homemaker. A housekeeper. It's what I love to do. I am also the Queen of cover up and making do.....It's rewarding to save money on things and use up and not waste food. Perhaps that's one reason I like to feed my oppossum when we are at home and the goats and horses when we are down here in the country.
I'm going to do a big spring project around my den windows and will be looking into window treatments. I don't want to do anything really custom made but I need a treatment that will allow light and also can be closed for when we watch TV or a movie. Louis Dean says I am 'tighter than Dick's hatband' meaning I am really frugal. But that's not altogether a bad thing.
I should keep some ice cream in our freezer but if I did Louis Dean would eat it all!!
