ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Seed Swap Day which is a day where gardeners come together and swap the seeds from their best plants. Although people have been swapping seeds for years, nowadays people usually buy seeds and the old skill of swapping seeds is disappearing from our culture.
The holidays are over and things have certainly slowed down.. The snow is piling up out side, but somewhere out there, your garden is piled up under inches , if not feet of snow. So this holiday is for gardeners suffering from no dirt under the fingernails withdrawal . It’s a time for garden groups and organizations to hold seed swaps. Participating in a seed swap will make spring seem not so far away.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies.
Gertrude Jekyll
Here at my house I saved the seeds from my Pie Pumpkin that I had in the fall to make pumpkin pies with. One of my grandson’s enjoyed watching the pumpkins grow in their garden last year and I thought he might have fun planting the seeds from grand’ma’s pumpkin I don’t know if they will grow. I had originally saved and dried them to make roasted pumpkin seeds, but that didn’t happen so I kept them for him instead.
I no long garden, and haven’t for years but they say our minds are like a garden and our thoughts are like seeds, so maybe today could be a good day to share a good thought or two. Like plants grow and multiply so do our thoughts. The harvest can with be flowers or weeds. It’s our choice what we choose to think about.
Cheers to the weekend ! It’s time to slow down and enjoy a tasty meal with your family. Today I’m sharing a slow cooker dinner recipe you might enjoy.
Slow Cooker Ham, Green Beans, and Potatoes
2 lbs. ham hocks or a ham steak, cubed
2 to 3 large potatoes, pealed and chopped in two inch pieces
16 oz. green beans, frozen or fresh
Add ham, potatoes and green beans, cover with water and cook on high for approximately 5 hours. If you use ham hocks, you’ll need to remove them and discard any fat or bones, then return the meat to the broth.
Salt and pepper to taste.
If you have a large family, just increase the ingredients. For me this recipe will do for the whole weekend and probably Monday too.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
Think Spring!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy—
they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.
Marcel Proust
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6736. for seeds to share
6737. for positive thoughts that grow and bloom
6738. for a dinner recipe that will last the weekend
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure the mind of another.
Napoleon Hill
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

Spring is coming !
Dear MA, Gardening is in my blood! I get very excited if someone gives me seeds. Remember the photos on my blog of the orange flower, the Mexican sunflower? That was from a sweet lady who owned a nursery and she was giving away free seeds at a festival. I had no money to buy her plants but I asked if I could please have some seeds. Yay! I have enjoyed the flowers and so have the butterflies!!👍

Unlike my DIL - whose grounds look like something out of Home Beautiful - I've not felt the nudge to pick up a trowel. Yet. At last, I've so many opportunities, it would be a shame not to try. Your slow-cooker recipe sounds like something Tom would love; unfortunately, his palate is probably still smarting from all the chili I put in last week's pork stew.
PS - I'm hoping your DDIL#5's daddy made it through surgery successfully? I'm sorry I didn't say something two days ago, but didn't forget to say a prayer.
That crock pot recipe sounds yummy! And so easy to put together. Going to have to try it sometime.
Its been years since we have had a garden and even then it was very simple with tomatoes. I'm wondering how many people actually put in a garden here with the hot weather.
