ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Mischief Night is today, err tonight! It is an evening when people traditionally participated in harmless, please, mischief. The stress is on harmless or innocent mischief. Other forms of mischief can lead to big trouble. Even seemingly harmless mischief can be the source of problems.
This night is discouraged by law enforcement organizations. The mischief is sometimes less than funny, and can even lead to vandalism or destructive.
Why risk getting into trouble. Have a happy, safe, and harmless Mischief Night.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A little neglect may breed great mischief.
Benjamin Franklin
Sadly there are those that turn what should be fun into trouble. I remember seeing smashed pumpkins on the road in years gone by. Once we even got the front windows of our house egged, by some of the more daring of my kids friends, I’m sure. Tomorrow is Halloween and it’s meant to be a fun holiday, not a bad one.
Unless the weather turns bad, I’m supposed to be going over to DS#5’s house to celebrate with his family and DD’s too. We will have dinner together then the kids will go trick or treating. I hope to get some good pictures to share. We’ll see…
I’m trying to stay out of mischief here by keeping busy. Hard to believe the weekend is over and a new week is beginning. And it’s almost the end of October. Looking back, I’m not sure just what I got accomplished but I know there is lots to do before the holidays are upon us for sure. It’s time to get myself in gear in order to get it all done.
Today and tomorrow are suppose to be close to 50 degrees but I did see that S— word in the forecast and that’s not good. We’ll just have to do the best we can with what we get.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
National Candy Corn Day is today. Enjoy a handful of this sweet Fall treat. And, what perfect timing. National Candy Corn Day comes just a day before Halloween. That means you can eat plenty of it, before you go out Trick or Treating.
Candy corn is enjoyed all year long. Place it in a candy dish any time of the year, and watch it disappear by the handful. By far, the vast majority of candy corn is consumed during the Fall months, with both Halloween and Thanksgiving being the biggest times to eat it.
Candy corn was invented in the 1880s by George Renninger, and first manufactured by the Wunderle Candy Company. The Goelitz Candy company was the first to manufacture mass quantities around the turn of the century.
Candy corn consists primarily of corn syrup, honey, and sugar. There's lots of carbs/sugar, but it's fat free.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
For today and its blessings, I owe the world an attitude of gratitude.
Clarence E.Hodges
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5392. for safe and happy fun days
5393. for lots to do, it keeps me out of mischief
5394. for sweet treats, candy is good
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY

Old Proverb

A bit of love from someone dear…

Sounds like you have a nice Halloween planned, Ma. I hope the weather cooperates.

I'd never heard of mischief night! But come to think of it, I recall my dad saying how he and his brother used to collect dog 'do-do' in a brown paper sack, set it on fire on the neighbor's front porch, ring the doorbell ... and run! Preacher's kids, no doubt.
