ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Information Overload Day which reminds us that there’s such a thing as too much information, and sometimes this constant inundation can leave actually have a negative impact on our happiness and productivity.
Information Overload Day is about taking control of the flow of information into your life, and limiting it when and if it’s necessary
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their commonsense.
Gertrude Stein
There are many times when I cannot remember something, I say my brain is on information overload. With so much to remember everyday, I just need some time to sit and think for awhile. Ha !
Comparatively speaking, my days are more simpler than most and while there is a lot of info out there, many others get more. Like everything else about me I think my brain is slowing down too. One of these days I’ll probably just come to a stop. I am truly getting slower every day.
One of the main sources of information is of course, is the internet. We do need to be selective about what we read. Not everything is true and discovering what is and what isn’t is a job in itself.
I do love the convenience of the internet and like to be able to stay in touch with friends and family but it’s not my life. Just to be able to sit and the porch and watch nature is an education I wouldn’t want to miss out on. Living life in the slow lane does have it’s advantages.
We’ve got some lovely days coming our way through the weekend, but they are saying next week we may be in for a big cool down with more normal October temps coming our way and a sign of colder days ahead.
With no pictures to share on information, I decided to share some pictures today from past October days.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It National Brandied Fruit Day which is a scrumptious treat that is easy to make and can be enjoyed anytime of the year. Storing fruits in brandy is a simple way to preserve the wonderful tastes of the harvest season without the hassle of canning.
To make your own brandied fruit, all you need is ripened fruit, sugar, and brandy (the higher the quality, the better). Wash the fruit, peel off any skin, and slice if necessary. Fill half a container with brandy and add the fruit. For each cup of fruit you add, stir in 1/6 cup of sugar. Make sure all the fruit
is submerged in the mixture, cover the container, and store it in a dark place. You can continue to add fruit at any time. Your brandied fruit will be cured after a couple of months.
Serve a spoonful of brandied fruit over ice cream, with a dollop of whipped cream, or as a scrumptious breakfast side dish!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Information's pretty thin stuff unless mixed with experience.
Clarence Day
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5362. for information which helps us
5363. for the internet which keeps me in touch
5364. for life in the slow lane
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Lovely pictures from previous Octobers! There is so much information out there on the Internet that we can access so quickly. It is sometimes good to take a day off from it and just enjoy, like you do, porch sitting and enjoying nature.

You are so right about TMI!! I love being able to Google something - like how to pronounce an unfamiliar word we come across in our out loud reading or to answer a question we have about who played what in an old TV show and such like. As for news, good grief! I remember when people reported the news! Now they tell us what they think instead of reporting and let people make up their own minds. And then you can’t be certain you’re not being lied to! When I think of all the people on TV who have been caught in outright lies - it’s overwhelming!
Now that brandy fruit is intriguing! I’ve never thought of that and wish I could taste some to see if I’d like to make my own.
I forget what part of the country you live in but I would love your weather! I get so tired of being hot and would love cooler weather and not have the noise of the AC and fans humming on the time!
I’m loving the country! Now I must get up and go feed all the critters! Happy Friday!
Your autumn decorations are delightful!!
I definitely agree about information overload. I work in our congregational communications office primarily writing for our publications, editing (constantly!), and doing social media. Over the past year I've become very aware that my brain doesn't always seem to function the way I want it to! I'll be trying to think of a name of a person or a concept and it just doesn't come. I've learned that if I just let it go, what I'm looking for will surface after a short time. What's comforting is that my friends seem to be having similar problems. Earlier this year I switched from working 5 days a week to working 4 days a week. It was a difficult decision but I think a wise one. And I learned that I look forward to Wednesdays--my day off! I'll be 78 in February and so I guess I don't have much to complain about!
Enjoy the beautiful autumn season. We're just getting a wee taste of it here on the east coast.
How true! Some days it's easy to feel overwhelmed; I think my brain is slowing as well.
Perhaps that's why I prefer to commute to and from work in total silence.
Your accessory images are wonderful!
Your brandied fruit sounds delish Pam! I also loved your Halloween pics and decs. I think time is speeding up because I can't be slowing down as much as I seem to be, surely! haha I often have a hard time remembering things these days and write myself notes. I refer to them often. I think we need to be very discerning about the things we read and watch these days and take into our hearts and brains. So much of it is pure and utter garbage. I try to block out the negative. It doesn't do anyone any good. Love and hugs. xoxo
