53 DAYS UNTIL FALL

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
It's Mutt's Day. Mutts deserve their day in the spotlight, as much as a pure breed. By definition a mutt is a dog that is of mixed breed. They come from two to several breeds. Purebred owners, and sometimes the public in general, view them as lesser in many ways. Mutt owners know better. They value the diversity and uniqueness of their mutts. Sure, a mutt doesn't carry the expensive price tag that a purebred with papers has on its head. To the mutt owner, however, the mutt is invaluable.
To all mutts and and mutt owners, we hope you thoroughly enjoy Mutt's Day.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.
Roger Caras
In years past I’ve owned several different types of dogs. Some have been pure breads but most were a mixture. All were wonderful companions and I am thankful for that.
It’s important to remember that just like us, dogs do suffer from the heat so we need to take care they are keeping cool these hot summer days too!
Today we say goodbye to July. For many the next few weeks will be full of getting ready to go back to school. Others are trying to make the most of the remaining summer days. Here at my house I’m always on vacation so it doesn’t really matter, but I’m hoping summer will give us a few more beautiful days to enjoy.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Raspberry Cake Day
A box of lemon cake mix, raspberry jam and canned frosting make it a breeze to assemble this lovely layered Raspberry Cake
1 package lemon cake mix
1 tablespoon poppy seeds, optional
1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
1 jar, 12 ounces, seedless raspberry jam
2 3/4 cups vanilla frosting
Fresh raspberries
Grease two 9 in. round baking pans and line with waxed paper; grease and flour the paper. Prepare cake batter according to package directions; stir in poppy seeds and lemon peel.
Pour into prepared pans. Bake at 350° for 21 to 26 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.
Cut each cake horizontally into two layers. Place bottom layer on a serving plate; top with half of the jam. Top with a second layer; spread with 3/4 cup frosting. Top with a third layer and remaining jam. Top with remaining layer; spread remaining frosting over top and sides of cake. Garnish with fresh raspberries. Makes 12 servings.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

How cute with mutt day! We went to a corgi gathering yesterday at a dog park. It was fun to see all types of dogs playing together and enjoying a bit of a swim. The kids here start school a week from Monday. Where did summer go?

You're so fortunate to experience the changing seasons, Ma!
Our girls are celebrating "Mutts Day" at the groomers later this morning. :)
Love today's post. I had to laugh yesterday as GiGi, my friend's standard poodle, would put her paw on my hand when I quit petting her, every time. She loved it. lol Love Mutt's day. Glad to know they have their own day! Every day is their day at my house. Hope you have a great day!
It's so funny, raspberries look so good, but we never eat them here.
I love Mutt Day, though! Sorry I have been so slow to read these days, we have had a hard July here in Kansas.
