65 DAYS UNTIL FALL

Life is a Special Occasion!

July 19 is Stick Out Your Tongue Day.
It is unclear whether the anonymous inventor of this made up holiday intended it to be a day for people to stick out their tongues at everyone they come across or for them to visit their doctors to get a general checkup.
Many cultures consider sticking out the tongue at someone as a childish, rude and insulting gesture. In these cultures, when children stick out their tongue at adults, it is seen as an act of disobedience. In Tibet, however, sticking out one's tongue is considered to be a polite form of greeting.
There is one place where sticking out one's tongue is not only considered ok, but can be sometimes essential, in a doctor's office. The tongue, which is a muscle that helps humans in eating food and speaking, is also one of the many organs in the human body that doctors check to detect signs of illness.
Today, sticking out one's tongue over the Internet or through text is done through emoticons, and seen as a way to express a point that should not be taken very seriously. The emoticon is written by typing a colon, followed by a dash and a capital P. :-P
If there are things that are bothering you, take this day to stick your tongue out at them. If you are overdue for a general checkup, perhaps today is the day to visit the doctor and get a clean bill of health.
Did You Know...that the human tongue can have anywhere from 2,000 to 8,000 taste buds?

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Be sure to taste your words before you spit them out
As silly as this holiday may seem, I’m very thankful for all the many benefits that having a tongue gives me. I wouldn’t be
able to talk, swallow or eat with out one and I wouldn’t be able to taste what I eat and I do love tasting good food.
I didn’t know about that text emoticon that is seen as a way to express a point that should not be taken very seriously. There are a lot of times I could have used this one in the past. Seriously :-P
Today is also the full moon of July which is known as the Full Buck Moon. Bucks begin to grow new antlers at this time. This Full Moon was also known as the Thunder Moon because thunderstorms are so frequent during this month.
We’ve had a few thunderstorms lately. Thankfully they’ve been mild ones and we have needed the rain. The pictures today are from our picnic/tailgating in the park on Sunday.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
National Raspberry Cake Day makes today as sweet as a summer day can be. Raspberries are one of summers sweet, fruity treats. And, the harvest is going on right now. So, it's only appropriate that we enjoy a piece of raspberry cake in celebration of the harvest. It’s way too hot to turn on the oven so here is a no bake recipe for you.
No Bake Chocolate Eclair Cake
1 16 oz package chocolate graham crackers
2 3.4 oz boxes instant chocolate pudding
3½ cups milk
1 8 oz tub Cool Whip, thawed
2 cups fresh raspberries
Chocolate Frosting
¼ cup butter, melted
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1½ cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons milk
Mix pudding and milk together in a bowl. Blend for about 2 minutes and then add in Cool Whip.
Spray a 9x13" baking pan with non-stick cooking spray. Place a layer of chocolate graham crackers on the bottom of the pan, completely covering the entire pan. You may need to break a couple graham crackers into smaller pieces to make it fit. Top the graham crackers with ½ of the pudding mixture and then top with 1 cup of raspberries.
Cover with another layer of graham crackers, then top with remaining pudding mixture and raspberries. Top with one last layer of graham crackers, then spread the frosting on the graham crackers.
Chill overnight or at least for 6 hours.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
The best time for you to hold your tongue is the time you feel you must say something or bust.

Looked like a lot of fun at the park :) We had a thunderstorm here last night, we didn't get a lot of rain from it but other parts of Phoenix got flooded.
Amazing that it is time for another full moon already! This summer is flying by!
