70 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 6:07 am
Sunset: 9:00 pm
Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Pandemonium Day which is a day of sheer bedlam, and utter chaos. If ever there was a wild and whacky, unorganized day, today is that day.
Everyone has a day like this once in while. Its a day when all sort of unexpected things occur. Its a time when everything is happening at the same time, and at a very fast pace.
Celebrate and embrace Pandemonium Day. Don't let today, or any other day shake you up. If Pandemonium prevails, just go with the flow in a calm, cool manner. Sanity will return soon enough, it always does.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.
St Francis de Sales
Keep Calm ! God is always in control. There’s not a lot we can do when things go wrong but it’s how we handle things that counts. I know that can be an annoying thing to hear when you’re at your wit’s end and your life feels like it’s falling apart, but you have to trust that everything will be okay.
At the end of the day, bad things will happen to you. You will have highs, lows and lots of mediums in your life. You’re only human, just like everybody else.
What can set you apart from others though, is how you choose to deal with this situation. Realize no matter what happens, you always have a choice in how you react. While you may not be able to control what happens to you, you can most certainly control your behaviors. You can face the worst things in the world, but if you make the choice not to let yourself be affected by them, you won’t be.
Life is a journey of learning and growth, and everything happens for a reason. There are always things to be learned from every situation. No matter what bad stuff life throws your way, as long as you cope with it constructively, nothing can get you down. Keep calm and carry on.
In the news this week I saw that someone has dyed the water in our town square fountain blue. No one knows why. On the bright side, our gas prices have continued to go down balancing out the costs of keeping our homes cool due to the heat.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
National Macaroni Day
There is no better way to celebrate National Macaroni Day than with a creamy macaroni and cheese
Creamy One Pot Macaroni and Cheese
8 oz. cavatappi or other short pasta
1 small head cauliflower, cut into small florets, stalks finely chopped
1/4 c. milk
6 oz. extra sharp grated Cheddar
1/4 c. grated Parmesan
1/2 c. sour cream
2 scallions, very thinly sliced
black pepper
Green salad, for serving
Bring a large pot of water to a boil, leaving a 2 inch space between the water and the top of the pot. Cook the pasta according to package directions, adding the cauliflower during the last 4 minutes of cooking. Reserve 1/2 cup cooking water, drain the pasta and cauliflower and return to the pot.
While the pasta is cooking, combine the milk, Cheddar and Parmesan in a large heatproof bowl and place over the pot of bubbling pasta water . Stir the mixture occasionally until the cheese melts. Remove from heat and mix in the sour cream. I’d say this calls for a double boiler pan.
Fold the sauce into the pasta. Fold in the scallions and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Serve with a green salad, if desired.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
There is a calmness to a life lived in Gratitude, a quiet joy.
Ralph H. Blum
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4039. for choices, trying to make good ones
4040. for a loving Lord, that is always in control
4041. for mac and cheese, a comfort food for sure
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good. Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom.
James Allen
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I never would have thought to add cauliflower with mac and cheese, but it sounds delicious! So true that we will have bad things happen in our lives; we just need like you said to stay calm and realize God is in control. It is good that gas prices are going down. I would imagine we'll be using our air conditioner into October maybe even November here :)
betty
I don't need a special day to celebrate pandemonium. It's like that around this house a lot. Yummy cauliflower with mac and cheese. Who would have thought. Have a good Thursday!
