Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is National Pie Day. It is a special day that is set aside to bake and cook all of your favorite pies. On this day, you are also encouraged to bake a few new pie recipes. And most importantly, it's a day to eat pies!
A great way to celebrate National Pie Day is to bake some pies and give them away to friends, neighbors, and relatives. You never know, you may be starting a tradition of pie giving between your friends and family.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Easy as pie...
On my bucket list for 2015 I said that I wanted to make a new recipe every week of the year. This week I’m going to find a new pie recipe to try out. Last week I made a beef roast using an envelope of dry ranch dressing, 1 envelope of brown gravy mix, and 1 envelope of Italian dressing mix. I put this on my roast in a roaster pan filled with about 1 inch of water and covered with foil then baked in a slow oven at 325 degrees for about 5 hours. It was delicious. The original recipe that I had called for it to be done in a crockpot but it turned out well done in the oven.
It’s always fun to try out new recipes and to share them too. The pictures today are of the last 2 pies I made. A pumpkin pie and a chicken pot pie.
I hope you all have a fantastic Friday!

I like that roast recipe, Ma! I've been thinking of doing a roast for next week, so I might just use this one :) Nothing better than it slow cooking and smelling it as it cooks.
I have to find a pie shop here and see about getting a pie today :)

I LOVE baking pies! All kinds.
Your roast recipe sounds like a winner. One I will sure try!
Have a great day, sweet lady.

I'm going to try that roast recipe soon. It sounds so good!! I prefer pie over cake but, I don't bake very often. I might need to change that!
Both those pies are very yummy... :)
Wonderful advice Pam. Eat Pie, Love Life! Your pies look gorgeous! Especially the chicken pot pie. I have done that pot roast recipe before and it IS gorgeous! It's nice to know it also works in the oven. It's probably done a lot quicker too! Have a lovely Saturday! Thanks for all the smiles and lovely thoughts you always share. xxoo
