Today is Appreciate A Dragon Day. The dragon is a powerful symbol in mythology all over the world, from Europe to Asia and beyond. All of us, young and not so young, can appreciate dragons. You'll find good and bad dragons in legends, folk lore, children's books, songs, and top movies.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Happiness is like those palaces in fairy tales whose gates are guarded by dragons: we must fight in order to conquer it.
Alexander Dumas
There are many different kinds of dragons and lots of stories to read about them. I had to dig around in my pictures but I did find some cute picture of a few my grands dressed up as a dragons for halloween.
According to Polish legend, once upon a time there was a dragon with such fierce eyes that everyone it looked at died. Occasionally, brave young warriors would take up swords and attempt to kill the dragon, but those deadly eyes reached farther than their swords, and they were always slain.
Then an alert young man approached the dragon, carrying not a sword but a mirror. On seeing its own devastating eyes reflected back, the beast fell dead.
We all face our share of dragons often in the form of lacking something, such as health, money, opportunity, love. For some the dragon is not something material; it’s something intangible like the fact that you’re always in a hurry. You’re always moving from one thing to another. Your dragon might just be your pace. You can’t take the time slow down long enough because other things are more important.
Whatever the dragons in our lives are, we need to realize just what is important in our lives and maybe we can tame those dragons in order to live a better life. You can’t go wrong if you take the time to be thankful for whatever is good in your life. When you think about the good things, all the bad stuff falls away like fluff.
I got a surprise visitor as DS#4 came in for a visit last night. He’ll be here for a few days. Now I’ll have to think of something to have for breakfast besides a donut.
I hope you all have a fantastic Friday !

Enjoy your visit with DDS#4, Ma! How neat for such a great surprise! I liked the story about the dragon being defeated by the mirror; good way to think about defeating the dragons in our own lives too!
