THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Nothing Says Lovin' Like Something from the Oven
October’s cooler days mean that I’ll definitely be baking more and homemade cookies are always a treat. I did a search on the favorite cookie and this is what I found. Oreo’s seem to be the favorite store bought cookie, but for homemade Chocolate Chip heads the list.
This recipe has an Oreo baked inside a Chocolate Chip Cookie
You take a ball of cookie dough and smoosh it on the top of an Oreo. Then you take another ball of cookie dough and smoosh it on the bottom of the Oreo. Moosh it all together to seal the Oreo in and there you have it…one outrageous cookie.
2 sticks butter, softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
10 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1 package Oreo cookies
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In the bowl cream together the butter and sugars. Add in the eggs and vanilla and mix until well combined.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add to the wet mixture and combine thoroughly. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Chill the dough for 15 minutes to make it easier to work with and to keep the dough from spreading when baking.
Using a cookie scoop place one scoop of dough on top of an Oreo cookie. Place another single scoop on the bottom of the Oreo to create a cookie sandwich. Seal the edges together to completely close in the Oreo.
Place the balls of cookie dough on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 9 to 13 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack.
For many of us, cookies are the very first thing that we learned to make in the kitchen; because they don't require the use of sharp objects or direct heat, they’re safe for young, beginner cooks. Not only are cookies relatively simple to make, but baking a batch can teach us important basic foundations and principles about cooking and baking in general.
Many of us learned that if we were not careful in preparing the ingredients for a cookie recipe, the results were unsatisfactory. Too much flour would result in a thick and cakey cookie, while butter that was too soft would cause the cookies to run all over the sheet pan. Cookie recipes taught us to be observant and careful.
Cookies taught us to be consistent. The final step of making cookies is placing them on a sheet pan and whether you’re making chocolate chip cookies or gingerbread men, the goal is to be consistent so that they bake evenly. Lastly, cookies taught us to be appreciative of cooking.

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

So cute with the grand kids by the pumpkins! I had not ever seen a recipe with an Oreo with chocolate chip cookies, that is definitely going to be on my to bake list this month (but not this weekend since we are due for 100 degree weather :)
