Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
October 15th is Information Overload Day. In a world of around the clock media, advertising, text messages, emails, television and Internet access, it’s a great day to slow down, take a deep breath, and relax. Step away from your computer, turn off your phone, and enjoy life without being overwhelmed!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
We have bigger houses but smaller families:
We have more degrees but less sense;
more knowledge but less judgements;
more experts but more problems;
more medicines, but less healthiness.
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but we have trouble crossing the street
to meet the new neighbor.
We build more computers
to hold more information,
to produce more copies than ever,
but we have less communication.
We have become long on quantity
but short on quality.
These are times of fast foods,
but slow digestion;
tall man, but short character;
steep profits, but shallow relationships.
It is time when there is much in the window
but nothing in the room.
Dalai Lama
I have to say that I have many days of information overload. At least that is what I choose to call it. Many times I start to say something and the thought leaves me before I get it out or I forget the name of something I should very well know. I like to say that my brain is on overload. With so much to remember it just times out sometimes.
You might think that my age has something to do with this, and maybe it does, but I do know much younger folks that have the same problem so my idea of overload seems like the best one. I read an article that said research has found that the pace at which we’re exposed to information today is overwhelming to our brains, which haven’t adapted fast enough to easily separate relevant data from the irrelevant at the speed we’re asking it to. As a result, our brains become easily fatigued, and we become more forgetful. Information overload can be a very real problem
One of my basic rules for life is moderation in all things. It’s good to use this as far as information goes too. A little information is a good thing, it’s when we over do that it becomes a problem. This applies to technology of all kinds too.
That’s just my thoughts for what they are worth.
Autumn colors are expected to approach their peak throughout Ohio in the next few weeks. It’s a good time just to take time out and enjoy it while it lasts.
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
70 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
It’s not too early to start baking things you can freeze. Un-iced cookies, bars, and nut breads are good bets to make ahead. All will keep in the freezer if they are well wrapped, and you can have a few extra things on hand for unexpected guests.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
A journey of a thousand sites begins with a single click.

I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for 2 years and have now reached 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2129. for the internet, that keeps me in touch with my family every day
2130. for my mind, when it works
2131. for a couple of warmer days this week even though it rained
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I definitely feel many days that I'm on information overload! AT times I worry that my memory is beginning to slip--and when I mention this someone will kindly tell me that it's more a case of trying to keep too much in my head at the same time!
I'll be going on retreat in a few weeks and I so long for that time so I can simply clear my mind and be--and usually the more important parts of my life have a chance to germinate during those days--me and God!
Oh my goodness... information overload... I think we all suffer from this, and regularly, too.
Thank you for giving me a valid explanation for my occasional forgetfullness. Now if I can just remember the term you used....;}
I like the Christmas idea of baking ahead cookies to freeze. So true that we have so much to keep track of these days with information that I can see why we would get overloaded. I think a day every now and then away from technology could be a very good thing too! I know of some people who don't turn the computer on, on Sundays. I can't imagine myself ever doing that for a whole day, but maybe for a long span of time could be good.
