Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
October 12th is Old Farmers Day. Today we honor the hard labor of farmers throughout American history. Early American culture was heavily a farming culture. A farmers' work is long and hard. It certainly doesn't make a person rich. It has its good years, and its bad ones. There is no guarantee of a good crop. Weather, pests, and disease problems often prove disastrous. But, through it all, farmers have persevered. And, their ceaseless hard work sets an example for all.
As Americans, we tip our hat to all farmers for their contributions to American culture, values, society, and the economy. Happy Old Farmers Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I'd consider being a farmer. As long as I could live on the Pepperidge Farm. And raise Milanos.

We do owe a lot to the farmers in our country. I appreciate all they do. We need them for the food we eat every day and right now harvest time is just about over. Soon we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving but every day is one to be thankful.
Today’s pictures were taken last year on one of my trips out to the country. I take this road often and view hasn’t changed much at all, but I do think the trees are more colorful this year. I’m blessed to live not far away from lots of farms and always take advantage of their roadside stands.
Next Sunday will be the 3rd Sunday dinner here at my house. I enjoy cooking for any of my family than can make it over for dinner. I’ll be cooking up some fall treats and hopefully at least a few will be able to come by.
There could have been frost on the pumpkin in some places last night as our temps dipped down into the 30’s. Thankfully there was none here. They say we’ll rebound and for the beginning of the new week we’ll get up into the 70’s with a good chance of rain. I don’t see anymore 30 degree temperatures in the long range forecast for now.
I’ll be off to church as usual this morning and then home for a day of rest and relaxation.
Hope you all have a relaxing and restful Sunday!
73 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
It’s the time of year when craft shows and holiday bazaars start popping up everywhere. I hope to get to several in the days ahead. They are wonderful places to find hand made treasures, unique gifts and delicious food. Treats and sweets, blings and other things!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Love is to the heart what the summer is to the farmer's year — it brings to harvest all the loveliest flowers of the soul.

I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for 2 years and have now reached 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2120. for farmers, we’d be awfully hungry without them
2121. for a bountiful supply of food to eat
2122. for a day to rest up for the new week ahead
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Like farmers we need to learn that we cannot sow and reap the same day.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

I do admire the farmers; they have a hard job to do and you are right, Ma, they never know how their crops are going to turn out, will there be enough rain, etc. I am thankful there are people willing to be farmers as I do enjoy eating the fruit of their work.
I hope you have a restful day Ma!
