Frugal Fun Day is today. It’s a day to have fun 'on the cheap’.  Enjoy fun activities that are free or very inexpensive. If you use your imagination, the ideas are endless. Go on a bike or walking hike. The Fall leaves are on display. Have a picnic in the park, or your back yard. Invite some friends or neighbors over for a garage party and dance. Go fly a kite. Pull out the those old board games or puzzles that you have stored in the basement. Play cards with some friends.

Never, ever underestimate the importance of having fun.

It will be a fun day for me today as I’ll be going to a wedding.  Weddings are really special occasions and I think we all have good feelings about them.  Most of them aren’t very frugal though.

 I don’t think that money makes a difference when it comes to having fun.  Picnics in the park were a favorite thing to do when my family was young.  These days I find sitting on the porch with a good book lots of fun.  Sad to say there won’t be many porch days left.  

The weather has definitely cooled down here and for the most part we’ll be lucky to see temps in the 60’s.  Looking at the week ahead there’s going to be a chance for us to have some rain most every day too.  My fun will probably found indoors and that’s ok as long as I’m having fun.

Rainy days don't have to be all gloom and doom. They’ll give me some time work on my Christmas projects.  And sometimes being by yourself on a rainy also gives you a chance to practice stuff so you get better at it. I love to play my dulcimer and it’s been sadly neglected.  So I’m thinking it’s time I got it out a little every day and play.  

Today is  10/4 , so some CB radio users thought it was a perfect day to celebrate 10-4.  Ten-four means message received. Understood, okay, and roger that.  I’ll be having me some fun 10/4!

 81 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS

Now that October is here we can’t forget about Halloween.  It’ll be here before we know it.  It’s time to be on the look out for treats for the tricksters.  I found mine the other day when I was out shopping.  The expiration date is well beyond Halloween so it wasn’t too early to pick them up.  It’s also a good time to mark your calendars for any parties that might be coming up and to plan a costume if you are wearing one.  As for me I’m wearing the same one I did last year…and I still look just about the same too.

COUNTING MY GIFTS

I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for almost 2 years and have now reached 2000 gifts.  On my way now to 3000.  I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting.  There is always, always something to be thankful for.

2096. for my nephew and his new wife, their wedding is today!

2097. for my dulcimer and the hours of fun it has provided

2098. for a cozy and dry home where there is always lots of fun to be had

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

commanders.

 

Lord, hold our troops in

your loving hands.

Protect them as they protect us.

Bless them and their families for the

selfless acts they perform for us

in our time of need. I ask this in the

name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
