ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
NOBEMBER 29TH, 2009
It's SUNDAY…
As you can see our snow melted quickly and this is the view from the front porch on Saturday morning. By afternoon it was all gone.
I’m taking it a bit slow this morning and am really enjoying a good cup of coffee here. The activities of the past few days have taken their toll so this will be a day to enjoy that good old R& R.
It’s so very hard to believe that my long weekend is just about over, but I’m thankful I had it and that I got a lot done too.
This was one of the beautifully decorated shop windows we saw last Friday. You can see the reflection in the window mirroring the little town we visited and DS#6 is in there too. I thought it was an interesting picture for sure.
THINKING
Advent is the time of hope, a time to renew the light of Christ in our lives.
As He came to bring us the light of eternal life, we hope to share our light with others.
Lord, the light I choose to let into my life today is based on my trust in you. I so much desire that it dispel a bit more darkness today. Let this candle be my reminder today of my hope in your coming. May your blessing come upon us as we light the first (purple) candle of this wreath and its light be a sign of Ch
rist’s promise of salvation
Things to do during Advent:
As you light the First Candle of the Advent Wreath pray for someone in your family who needs Christ in their life.
Create a prayer chain out of construction paper. Usin
g red and green paper, cut strips 8 inches long for each day of advent. Using a dark marker, write names on each of the strips for people that you would like to pray for during advent. You can also pray for groups of people or missions. Staple the first strip end to end. Looping the next strip through the first ring, staple it's ends together. Repeat until all strips are linked and your prayer chain is complete. Some families like to make the last strip a prayer of thankfulness to Jesus.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
These jolly snowmen remind me that in these busy days it is important to eat healthy meals. Their rounded bellies are something I don’t want to get anymore of than what I already have. Two of the most important things in our diet is lots of fruits and veggies.
Here is a refreshing drink recipe that I got from one of my blogging friends.
Sonic Sunrise
OJ and 7-up with a small amount of grenadine for the cherry flavor, and then a hefty little squirt of lime juice
I don’t have any of that grenadine in my house so I’m
wondering if a little cherry juice from my maraschino cherries would do?
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
In keeping with the color of the Advent Season, I’m wearing purple today
And as it is a bit chilly this morning in the upper 30’s, I’ll put a sweater on over my shirt today
They do say that it’ll go up to 50?
And rain later on.
PRAYERS
What do we do with our worries? Our fears need not be concealed, but are to be spoken to the One who not only cares, but is more than able to help.
Prayer: Father, when I lay my anxieties at Your feet, help me to leave them there
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
Here is the back yard view of what was left of our snow yesterday. Today will be a busy one at work with payroll and then I’ll come home to do some more of that wonderful Christmas preparation. I’m having fun doing it all but I’m running low on energy for sure.
The rest of the week looks to be pretty quiet except for Thursday which I think is our Bible study night. We are now studying the book of Luke which is very appropriate for this time of year.
FAMILY ALBUM
Here is DS#6 at the restaurant we ate at last Friday. They had this life size statue of an American Indian there and I had to have a picture of it so he volunteered to stand beside it.
COUNTING THE DAYS
22 DAYS UNTIL WINTER !
26 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
AND
138 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
