ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
NOVEMBER 30TH, 2009
It's MONDAY…
BACK TO WORK TODAY!
St. Andrew's Day is the feast day of Saint Andrew. It is c
elebrated on 30th of November. Both he and his brother Peter were fishermen by trade, hence the tradition that Jesus called them to be his disciples by saying that He will make them fishers of men
Saint Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, and St. Andrew's Day is Scotland's official national day . In 2006, the Scottish Parliament designat
ed St. Andrew's Day as an official bank holiday.
I guess those Scots are the lucky ones today…as I will be going off to work as usual. It was wonderful having a 4 day weekend though.
THINKING
Advent is the time of hope, a time to renew the light
of Christ in our lives.
As He came to bring us the light of eternal life, we hope to share our light with others.
Lord, help me to be a person of peace,
To speak about it in an uneasy world,
And to live it among the people
you have put into my life every day
The First Letter to the Thessalonians (5:16-24) tells a faithful community how to live expectantly: to rejoice and pray, to give thanks in everything, to cling to the good and reject evil. It is good counsel for us i

NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Don’t forget to feed the birds!
In Medieval times, the days leading up to Christmas were the fast, or fish-days of Advent, fish was eaten in great quantities up to and including Ch
ristmas Eve. (This, therefore, usually meant that fish was not considered an appropriate food for the post-Advent Christmas period; one would be considered a poor or offensive host to offer fish for a Christmas meal!) The practice of serving fish up until Christmas Day survives enthusiastically today as the modern Italian-American tradition of a large and extravagant Christmas Eve seafood dinner.
So today I’ll share my recipe for Tuna Salad
1 can tuna drained
4 hard boiled eggs ( shelled and smashed)
2 stalks celery diced
½ medium size onion diced
1/3 cup mayonnaise or miracle whip (you can add more if too dry)
Salt and pepper to
taste.
Mix altogether and chill.
I love this on whole wheat or rye bread
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
If leaves wither and hang on the bough, it betokens a frosty winter
It looks like it will be a chilly start as we are down in the 30’s this morning and our high will be 42 degrees they say. What better day than this to wear my flannel shirt and a warm fleece vest too
.
PRAYERS
Dear Jesus, through your humility you became my savior. May I also be humble for God's gl
ory
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their
families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU
ALL!
AROUND HOME
Start by doing the necessary, then the possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible

The picture above is not of my home but the house is now decorated as much as it will be for this year. I’ve got lots of preparing to do…I’ve made my list and it still has a long way to go before it’s fi
nished.
FAMILY ALBUM
These angels are part of the Nativity set that’s been our home for many years now. One other angel and a cow have bit the dust, but the rest remains in pretty good shape.
COUNTING THE DAYS
Place shoes by side on Christmas Eve to prevent a quarreling family
I thought this was a good place to share a little Christmas folklore with you all. So I’ll try to add one each day as we make our way to Christmas this year.
21 DAYS UNTIL WINTER !
25 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
AND
137 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma
