TODAY’S ACTION

TODAY’S QUOTE
You change your life by changing your heart.

IT’S MONDAY !!
There are more snow flakes in the weather forecast today. I do hope it’s not many. Yesterday, much to our surprise we probably had another 4 inches on the ground. My next door sister got out her faithful snow blower and did the drive way early in the morning so I was able to get out for church with no problem.
No snow has melted since our first big storm so there is beginning to be quite an accumulation on the ground. We are currently 13 inches above the average snowfall for our area they say and I believe it too. Thursday we may finally go above the freezing mark but only for about 1 day then more snow and colder weather.
DS#5 and DD were at church and they are both doing fine. DS#5 had had a couple of extra days to his weekend with the closing of school on last Thursday and Friday and DD said she’d been out to dinner Saturday evening with 2 of the couples that camp near by us. Everyone is eagerly waiting for Spring.
In case you missed it, there is a recall on peanut butter snack products such as crackers with peanut butter and they are saying to stay away from all of them til they can track down exactly what is affected for sure. Several have died from the salmonella and lots are sick because of it.
There goes my snacks for the week.
I’ll have to find something else to munch on.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Dear Lord, heal all those who condemn themselves and feel like a failure.
Thank you that the message of freedom in the Bible
can help us find release from these feelings.
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
25 WORDS
God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me,
and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name
TO REMEMBER…
I am in the hands of God,
and in God’s time all things will be made well.
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, marking Dr. King's birth on January 15th, 1929. The U.S. observance is Third Monday, this year on January 19TH. Dr. King is the only American besides George Washington to have his birthday designated a national holiday. This is a day to honor King's principles, perhaps best exemplified by his famous I Have a Dream"speech, delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 1963:
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed, 'We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal’
Today is Tin Can Day, marking the patent of a process for storing food in tin cans issued to Ezra Daggett and Thomas Kensett
Today is Horror Novels Are Horrendous Day, the birthday of Edgar Allan Poe, born on this date in 1809 and author of many horror tales
Today is Whisper I Love You Day
1915 - George Claude of Paris, France patented the neon tube advertising sign. His handiwork was regularly seen adorning the Eiffel Tower and many pizza parlors throughout America
1953 - Sixty-eight percent of all TV sets in the U.S. were tuned to CBS-TV this day, as Lucy Ricardo of I Love Lucy gave birth to a baby boy -- just as she actually did in real life -- following the script to the letter!
1959 - Dick Clark’s American Bandstand was the number-one daytime TV show in the U.S
1978: The last U.S.-made Volkswagen Beetle rolled off the assembly line. Twenty years later, the Beetle was back
TODAY’S SMILE
LISTS
The first of the year is known for three things: black-eyed peas, bowl games, and lists
Some don’t eat black-eyed peas. Others hate football. But everybody likes lists
The number one list is the list I call the Laws of the Lighthouse.
The Laws of the Lighthouse contain more than good ideas, personal preferences, and honest opinions. They are God-given, time-tested truths that define the way you should navigate your life. Observe them and enjoy secure passage. Ignore them and crash against the ragged rocks of reality.
Herewith, then, are the lights I look for and the signals I heed:
Love God more than you fear hell.
Live your liturgy.
Approach life like a voyage on a schooner.

If you go to his site there is a free download for a bookmark that has the

Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going too fast
you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.

TODAY’S WORD
narcolepsy \NAHR-kuh-lep-see\, noun:
a disorder characterized by uncontrollable bouts of sleepiness during the daytime, occasional loss of muscle power and paralysis, and hallucinations during sleep
by 1880, from French narcolepsie, coined 1880 by physician Jean-Baptiste-Édouard Gélineau (1859-1928) from combining form of Greek narke "numbness, stupor" + lepsis, an attack, seizure
TODAY’S REFLECTION
Do not worry about anything,
but pray and ask God for everything you need.
Philippians 4:6
Look around you. You have reason to worry. The sun blasts cancer-causing rays. Air vents blow lung-clotting molds. Potato chips have too many carbs. Vegetables, too many toxins. And do they have to call an airport a terminal
Some of us have postgraduate degrees from the University of Anxiety. We go to sleep worried that we won’t wake up; we wake up worried that we didn’t sleep. We worry that someone will discover that lettuce was fattening all along. The mother of one teenager bemoaned, “My daughter doesn’t tell me anything. I’m a nervous a wreck.” Another mother replied, “My daughter tells me everything. I’m a nervous wreck.” Wouldn’t you love to stop worrying? Could you use a strong shelter from life’s harsh elements?
God offers you just that: the possibility of a worry-free life. Not just less worry, but no worry
