ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JANUARY 10TH, 2009
TODAY'S THOUGHT
Every day presents you with new opportunities to make more beautiful memories. Every moment is your chance for a fresh and original experience of life's treasure.
It's great when you can remember how good life has been. It's even better to know, again and again in every moment, how truly good life is.
Life's abundance does not run out. In fact, the more good things you experience, the more good things there are to be experienced.
You cannot lose the joy and beauty that you've already known. So move confidently forward and experience even more.
Ralph Marston
TODAY’S ACTION
Remember your faith is the best answer to anxiety
TODAY’S QUOTE
Oh, my friend, it's not what they take away from you that counts.
It's what you do with what you have left.
Hubert Humphrey
IT’S SATURDAY !!
On this cold snowy day it’s a good time to think about making soup.
DS#6 has been asking for this recipe and it’s a good one for anyone that has leftover turkey in the freezer from Christmas time.
I actually got the recipe from the package label on some Turkey shaped pasta that I found. I made it for his birthday last year and everyone seemed to like it very much. Remember you can also use any shape pasta you desire. It may be difficult finding the Turkey shapes.
TURKEY LEFTOVER SOUP
7 OZ. (1/2 BAG TURKEY SHAPED PASTA)
10 CUPS CHICKEN BROTH
(I used water and chicken bouillon cubes instead of broth)
1 onion, chopped
1 t. basil
1 t. oregano
1 t. onion salt
½ t. garlic salt
1 t. thyme
½ t. pepper
2 bay leaves
1 28 oz. can of diced tomatoes
2 10 oz. packages of frozen mixed veggies
4 cups cubed turkey
2 T. butter
1 T. cider vinegar
In large stockpot combine broth, vinegar, onions and seasonings
Bring to a boil and add and un-drained tomatoes. Reduce heat and cover and simmer 10-12 minutes or until veggies are tender crisp. Discard bay leaves and stir in turkey. Return to boil and add pasta. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 8 minutes.
Serves 8-10 Main dish servings
Hope you enjoy it!
It also has a recipe for Mac and Cheese on the label. I’ll have to try this one out and if it’s good, I’ll share that too.
Snow, snow and more snow coming they say. That’s why I thought it was a good day to put some BEACH graphics in my newsletter. I’ll be taking some pictures of the snow to show you all. Just in case you don’t have any and want to see them. I’ll try to put them in my journal tomorrow.
There is no doubt what I’ll be doing today…
Take good care all!
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Please pray for a friend’s husband who is in the hospital right now. He is having severe problems with his Blood Pressure. When he is laying down, it is elevated, when sitting up it is normal and then when he stands up it crashes.. Pray for healing for him and guidance for the doctors caring for him. And please pray for my friend too that the good Lord will comfort her and give her strength as she goes through this worrisome time.
And as always, Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU !
25 WORDS
God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me,
and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name
TO REMEMBER…
I am in the hands of God,
and in God’s time all things will be made well.
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is National Peculiar People Day
Peculiar People Day is in honor of uniquely different people. Un-ordinary, extraordinary, unusual, strange, odd, uncommon, intriguing, different, abnormal, and quirky.... These are all things that we think of to describe the word "peculiar". Most of these characteristics can be viewed as good, or not so good. Today is a day to look for the good in your peculiar acquaintances.
If you are peculiar, this is your day to be honored and appreciated. Chances are, you will find something peculiar about yourself, if you look hard enough. If you can't find anything peculiar about yourself, then give some recognition and appreciation to your quirky friends and family
Today is National Cut Your Energy Costs Day
Today is Woman's Suffrage Day, marking introduction of the Susan B. Anthony Amendment into the U.S. Senate on this date in 1878. The amendment was signed into law 42 years later

January 10th - The Full WOLF Moon
This full Moon appeared when wolves howled in hunger outside the villages. It is also known as the Old Moon. To some Native American tribes, this was the Snow Moon, but most applied that name to the next full Moon, in February
TODAY’S SMILE
He lived in the plain little farmhouse at the end of a lane that turns off the highway above the covered bridge and disappears in the dense foliage which overgrows the riverbank.

2. broad in acceptance of ideas or approval from other sources

TODAY’S REFLECTION
Judge not, that you be not judged.
Matthew 7:1
What better way to tell people to mind their own business than to quote Jesus? People who seldom read the Bible are quick to quote Matthew 7:1 when they want to silence someone whose opinion they don’t like.
In context, however, the passage indicates that we are indeed to judge; we’re just supposed to avoid faulty judgments. Furthermore, our judgments are to begin with self: “First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye,”
Jesus used the metaphor of fruit to give us the proper criteria for judging. “By their fruits you will know them” (v.20). We are to judge people (including ourselves) by the quality of the fruit they produce. This fruit cannot be judged by earthly values such as how good we look (v.15). It must be judged by heavenly values—the fruit of the Spirit produced within us—love, joy, peace (Gal. 5:22
Be slow to judge others and quick to judge yourself
