TODAY'S THOUGHT
Every day is a new beginning. Treat it that way.
Stay away from what might have been, and look at what can be

TODAY’S ACTION
Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase,
just take the first step.
Martin Luther King Jr.
TODAY’S QUOTE
Man will never know peace among his fellow man,
until he finds peace within himself.

IT’S WEDNESDAY !!
OVER THE HUMP DAY!
A little snow and a little sleet and freezing rain was all we had yesterday. The next weather front is supposed to come on Saturday they say with 3 or 4 inches of possible snow.
It’s all such a guesswork job, forecasting the weather. If the temps sway above freezing it seems we get a whole different weather picture.
I had a good time with my dulcimer buddies last night. But when we left to go home it was a sheet of ice outside. Now we won’t be meeting until April when the weather gets a little better. No one likes to go out when it’s freezing and cold after a long day of work.
Bible study does continue on Thursday evenings. My friend that takes me every week doesn’t mind the weather and I don’t have to drive so I have no excuse.
So far I haven’t found a ride to work, but I do have to go out for that each day…I’m just counting the days til Spring.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Dear God, give us hearts to celebrate
your gift of grace in all its forms.
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
God Bless You!
25 WORDS
God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me,
and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name
TO REMEMBER…
I am in the hands of God,
and in God’s time all things will be made well.
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is Old Rock Day. Old Rock Day is an opportunity to enjoy and appreciate old rocks and fossils. Perhaps you can start a rock collection. You can go out on a field trip in search of old fossils (the rock kind). Or, if you choose, you can just play with old rocks.
There are a lot of fun-filled, yet ill-defined, wild and wacky holidays. This is one of them. There is little information available on what this day was truly meant to mean. So, the interpretation and the means of celebration is left up to you.
By definition, fossils are old rocks. Jewelry stones are old rocks. And, coal is an old rock, too. You can celebrate any or all of these old rocks today.
Today is Millard Fillmore Day, marking the birth of the 13th U.S. president on Jan. 7, 1800.
Today is I'm Not Going to Take It Anymore Day, a day to stand up for your rights
1610: Galileo, using his primitive telescope, discovered the four major moons of Jupiter: Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto
1789: The first nationwide U.S. presidential election was held. The electors chosen by the voters unanimously picked George Washington as president and John Adams as vice president
1929: Tarzan, one of the first adventure comic strips appears
TODAY’S SMILE
A friend once baked a coffee cake and asked me to sample it. It was pretty tasty but, I felt the need to ask her what the small crunchy things were in the cake.
She replied by saying the recipe had called for 2 cups of strong coffee.
You guessed it...
She had put two cups of pure coffee in, not perked coffee! There was quite an energy boost from that cake.
One More…
When I discovered my first gray hair I immediately wrote to my parents:
"Dear Dad and Mom, You saw my first steps. You might want to experience this with me too."
I taped the offending hair to the paper and mailed it.
My father's response was in the form of a poem:
It's a trustworthy observation
That nothing can compare
In the process of aging
With finding the first gray hair.
He signed off with this observation:
That gray hair you sent is not the first one you gave us!
TODAY’S WORD
beleaguer \bi-LEE-ger\, verb:
1. to surround with troops; besiege2. to surround or beset
by 1589, from Dutch belegeren "to besiege," from
be- "around" + legeren, to camp
TODAY’S REFLECTION
The landowner said, Are you envious because I am generous
Matthew 20:15
Jesus' parable of the prodigal son is a story of this grace, with three main characters. The story wouldn't make sense without the father and the younger son, the prodigal; and the older son reminds us that grace often seems unfair. The story ends as the father pleads with his older son to come and celebrate his brother's return
We never find out what the older son does after the party because, I think, the older son's response is our response. We are meant to finish the story in our lives. When someone gets credit for what we have done, when we are overlooked for what we have earned, or when living the right way doesn't seem to make a difference, we can accept the offer to celebrate God's grace. Or we can remain outside and refuse to participate in God's grace which is redeeming the world

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC
No toothpick to test whether the cake is done?
Use an uncooked strand of spaghetti
