IT’S FRIDAY !!
It is just sooooo great to sleep in here this morning and sip the good hot coffee and relax. I’m enjoying this vacation day for sure.
I had a nice New Year’s Day and had my two youngest sons and their wives for dinner. I managed to share a little of my leftovers with them too and still have some for my self. I hope you all had a great day too.
While DS#6 was here he managed to get my e-mail accounts straightened around for me and I found I had several e-mails that I’d not received since my old computer went down. He had it set up for me to use my bigma@bigmarainey.com address. It’s now back to that once more.
He also set up a little gadget for a web cam and we’ll see if it works when he has time at his house for us to check it out. The wonders of technology are great when they work right.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
25 WORDS
God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me,
and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name
TO REMEMBER…
I am in the hands of God,
and in God’s time all things will be made well.
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is…
RUN IT UP THE FLAG POLE AND SEE IF ANYONE SALUTES DAY
Run it up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes is an expression. It means to float an idea to see what people think, or if they notice. The term is commonly used in advertising and print media.
Run it Up the Flagpole to See if Anyone Salutes Day is set aside to allow people to do just that. Be creative today. Use this day to try and test new ideas and concepts. Don't limit the ideas to business applications. In your personal life, try out a new dress or clothing style, perhaps a different haircut. Or, maybe buy a new houseflag and run it up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes...or even notices.
Some Day We'll Laugh About This Week begins today
Today is Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy Day. The Andrews Sisters recorded the song for Decca Records in Los Angeles on this date in 1941
1910: The first junior high school in America opened in Berkeley, California
1936: Burma Shave erected roadside signs throughout the U.S. promising, "Free! Free! A Trip to Mars For 900 Empty Jars." Arliss French collected 900 jars and demanded the free trip. He finally settled when Burma Shave supplied a space suit and flew him to Mars (Moers), Germany, a small town near Dusseldorf
TODAY’S SMILE
Miss Jones had been giving her second-grade students a lesson on science. She had explained about magnets and showed how they would pick up nails and other bits of iron. Now it was question time and she asked, "My name begins with the letter `M' and I pick up things. What am I?" A little boy on the front row said,
You're a mother.
One more…
A man called his neighbor only to have the phone answered by a young boy. He asked the lad if he could speak to his father. The lad replied his father was not home. "Well, then, could I speak to your mother?" "She's not home either." the lad replied. "Okay then," asked the man, "who is home with you?" the boy answered "Just my brother!!"Alright then, the man replied, may I speak with him? The lad said "yes" and went to get his brother. After what seemed like a very long time, the boy came back and said that his brother could not come to the phone. Exasperated, the man said, "Well, why not?" the boy answered,
Because I can't get him out of his crib!

TODAY’S REFLECTION
You are to them as a very lovely song . . . they hear your words,
but they do not do them
Ezekiel 33:32
Regular intake of God’s Word is a worthy practice, but it’s not an end in itself. The prophet Ezekiel spoke to an audience who loved to listen but refused to act. The Lord said to Ezekiel: “Indeed you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice and can play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they do not do them” (33:32).
Jesus said: “Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matt. 7:24).
How will each of us read the Bible this year? Will we read it quickly to achieve the goal of getting through it? Or will we read it with the aim of doing what it says?
Don’t just read it. Live it!
