ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JANUARY 16TH, 2009
TODAY'S THOUGHT
Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.
Edith Sitwell
TODAY’S ACTION
Boost someone’s spirit, and you will raise yours as well
TODAY’S QUOTE
Perhaps I am a bear, or some hibernating animal underneath, for the instinct to be half asleep all winter is so strong in me.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh
IT’S FINALLY FRIDAY !!
Another work week is coming to an end and this one will go in the record books as one of the coldest in our northern Ohio history. Today is supposed to be colder than yesterday as we’ll have more wind chill to deal with they say. Schools all around are closed. However, work goes on. I have payroll to do to day and that won’t take but a few minutes as it’s only me and the boss working.
The weekend promises us more snow. I’m thinking there must be a reason for it, but I sure do not know what it is. I’ve got great plans for staying in and keeping warm and that is about it for sure. Hope you all are keeping warm and safe.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
25 WORDS
God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me,
and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name
TO REMEMBER…
I am in the hands of God,
and in God’s time all things will be made well.
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is Appreciate a Dragon Day, celebrating fictional dragons as memorable characters
Today is Civil Service Day. On this date in 1883, the Pendleton Act created the federal civil service system and the U.S. Civil Service Commission
Today is Religious Freedom Day. On this date in 1786, Virginia adopted a law guaranteeing religious freedom. This became the model for the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution
Today is National Nothing Day, a day to not celebrate anything
National Nothing Day is quite simply... a day for nothing.
Seeing as the creators of this day left nothing about the cause or reason for the day, we are also describing nothing about today. To say anything more would defeat the purpose of this day.
Celebrate this day by doing....nothing. Of course, that assumes that doing nothing is okay with your boss
1939: The comic strip Superman made its debut
1964: The musical Hello, Dolly!, starring Carol Channing, opened on Broadway, beginning a run of 2,844 performances
TODAY’S SMILE
FOUR SEASONS OF A TREE
Don't judge a life by one difficult season. There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn to not judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away. The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.
TODAY’S WORD
kinetic \ki-NET-ik\, adjective:
of or having to do with motion; caused by motion
by 1864, from Greek kinetikos "moving, putting in motion," from kinetos "moved," verbal adjective of kinein , to move
TODAY’S REFLECTION
Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38 – 39
One time a father wanted to teach his son the lesson of God’s great goodness. He took him to the top of a high hill and pointed northward over Scotland, southward over England, eastward over the ocean, westward over the hill and valley, and then sweeping his arm around the whole circling horizon, he said "Johnny, my boy, God’s love is as big as all of that." "Why father," the boy replied with sparkling eyes, "then we must be right in the middle of it."
Earnest Worker
We are right in the middle of God’s love – and NOTHING can separate us from this undeserved, unlimited love.

That story about the tree? I once turned that into a poem.
Ma, I just love these posts. I look forward to them every day, although I know I am always a day behind in reading them! Your graphics are wonderful too!
