ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 30TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Croissant Day which celebrates a crescent shaped pastry with a flaky crust. Although it is most likely a myth, the history of the croissant is a colorful tale of adventure . In 1683, the Turkish Empire laid siege on Vienna , Austria. The Turkes made several attempts to enter the city by force, but were unsuccessful, so decided to dig underground. The bakers of Vienna, who worked in the basement storerooms, heard the sound of digging and alerted the army.
The bakers received high honors and thanks for their assistance in outwitting the Turks. In celebration they baked their bread in the shape of a crescent moon— the symbol of the Ottoman Empire. After the Turks were defeated it became a custom to serve morning coffee with the crescent shaped pastry.
The legend goes on to say that over a hundred years later. Marie Antoinette, an Austrian Priness who married Louis XVI, introduced the pastry to the French who dubbed it a croissant.
To celebrate today warm up a delicious croissant and enjoy it with a generous helping of butter!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Breakfast is everything. The beginning, the first thing. It is the mouthful that is the commitment to a new day, a continuing life.
A.A. Gill
I especially love Croissant breakfast sandwiches and often make my own, But todays pictures are some I bought out at one of our local fast food restaurants. I happened to have coupons for by BOGO and treated my self to breakfast out one day.
Croissants make a lot of good sandwiches including, chicken salad, egg salad and bacon, egg, and cheese. They are also delicious toasted and eaten on their own. You can even find them glazed on the donut shelves of the bakery. Any way you fix them, they are delicious.
You can even buy these croissant breakfast sandwiches in frozen food section of the grocery store which is something I often do. My car is finally fixed due to the generosity of some of my children, and I’ll be off to the store today and will be picking some up. They are not as good as homemade, but they will do when you’re hungry and want breakfast in a hurry.
And FYI, my Christmas decorations finally got put away and stored away in the storage shed. DD and DSIL carted them out for me when they brought back my car yesterday.
I hope you all have A GREAT day. Happy Thursday!

Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

A good way to start the day is with a good breakfast.
I don't care if it's a myth or not … I love the story of how the croissant came to be! Now my mouth's watering for one with a generous filling of chicken salad.
So glad to hear your car is back in the drive and the Christmas decorations have made way for Valentines. Happy Wednesday!
Love croissants! They are always good for sandwiches, especially ones with bacon and eggs for breakfast! Glad the car is back up and running and your Christmas decorations are stored away for next year! We will blink and it will be next December already!
