ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 2ND,2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Run it up the Flag Pole and See if Any Salutes day which is a day to test your ideas and fancies out on people to see if they get approval or not. A modern variation of this old English catchphrase would be, Send up a test balloon.
If anyone salutes, meaning appeals to your idea, then it may it may be a good one indeed. This day is supposed to motivate ambitious people to test their fancies so they can get started with them now that the new year has begun.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If you have and apple and I have and apple and we exchange apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchanges these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.
George Benard Shaw
I don’t happen to have any new ideas to test out today, but it might be a good time to make some. The new year is the perfect time to form some new ideas and improve upon what you’ve always done.
We did something new for dinner yesterday and had seafood instead of the usual pork and sauerkraut for New Year’s dinner. I don’t know if there is any folk tales regarding that one for luck in the new year or not. But I’m hoping since we didn’t have it, no bad luck will come our way.
We had been out to see the Manatee Park and DSIL wanted crab legs so we found a seafood restaurant and went for it. It was a very popular place, but not fancy at all. We figured if there was a waiting line out the door, the food had to be good and it was. There were still people waiting to get in when we left for home too.
I guess we’ll be having pork roast today instead. It’s way more than enough to serve 6 of us left here, everyone else has already left for home or will be leaving shortly. So it’s looking like we’ll be having some to save in the freezer that they can enjoy another time.
The picture below is of the Caloosahatchee River that we went over on the way.
I’ll be praying for safe travels for my family as they make their way home and I thank each and everyone of them for making this the best Christmas ever!
I hope you all have a GREAT day! Happy Thursday!!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7736. for new ideas, always good to try
7737. for family who are the best !
7738. for plenty to eat, one way or the other.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas.
Marie Curie
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Eating outside at home in December would be unheard of .
Glad you had a chance to have that outdoor meal and crab legs sound wonderful!! I bet the days are going by way too fast for you, Ma, and you are wishing you could find a way to make time stand still for a bit so you can capture and make more memories!

Your not getting to see the manatee had to have been disappointing! (I've not many regrets, but having lived in Florida all those years and never making time to see them is one.)
I tried running a pork roast 'up the flag pole' yesterday, but Tom wanted to grill steaks. In a nod to tradition, I did cover mine with black-eyed peas for good luck. Lifting prayers for all the travelers!
