ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 16TH,2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!!

Today is International Hot and Spicy Foods Day which honors the hundreds of different spices that contribute to an array of hot flavored food. Hot foods can actually be good for you because of their medicinal and antimicrobial properties. Garlic, onions, allspice, and oregano all kill bacteria and make food safer to consume.
Archaeological evenidence suggests that people have been using hot spices in their recipes for over 6000 years. The hottest chili pepper in the world is the Naga Jolokia. On average one of these peppers is over 170 times spicer than a jalopeno pepper.
To celebrate today, try a few hot peppers or spices with your food today!
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Variety’s the very spice of life, That gives it all its flavor.
William Cowper
I must have had a senior moment because when I looked back at yesterday’s post, I was celebrating Thursday. Fact is that today is really Thursday so I apologize if I confused you. I somehow skipped a day in my rush to get the post done.
Time goes by fast enough without me rushing it, however I do hope you enjoyed some strawberry Ice Cream that should have made up for the mistake. Strawberry Ice Cream Day was actually celebrated on the 15th, so at least I got that right.
Today is Hot and Spicy Foods Day which is somthing I’m not a fan of. I like spices but only on the mild side. I only like half hot peppers and usually have them pickled. I like them on sandwiches which makes for a delicious treat.
The spiciest food I eat is probably chili and that is on the mild side. So I looked for and found a new spicy dish to fix for dinner tonight just trying out something new adds a little spice to life.
Grab your glass of milk today because research proves that the best way to ease the burning and fiery feeling in your mouth is with a tall glass of milk. Water won’t do it and only adds to the movement of heat around your mouth.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
The secret of happiness is variety, the secret of variety, like the secret of all spices, is knowing when to use it.

I'm not one for spicy foods either. I like a little mild flavor but not so it feels like my mouth is burning. I'm so confused these days with what day of the week it is that I didn't even notice your saying yesterday was Thursday :)

Perhaps, being raised in New Mexico, I developed a tolerance (appreciation, even) for 'fire' early on.
There's a television commercial (Xaxby's) airing lately for something called "jerk chicken" and Tom asked me, "What's jerk?" Thanks to you, now I can tell him. (*smile*)
We have the same sentiment when it comes to spicy. I have never understood someone liking their mouth to burn.
