ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 20TH,2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is also Martin Luther King Jr.Day which celebrates the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who devoted his life to the pursuit of justice and equality for all.
President Ronald Reagan signed the King Holiday Bill into law on November 2nd, 1983, fifteen years after the assassination of the civil rights leader. A congressman from Michigan introduced the legislation just a few months after Dr. King’s death in 1968 but it took years of petitions, politics, and personal appeals from Coretta Scott King to get it passed.
It is celebrated every year on the third Monday in January. There are only two other federal holidays that honor individuals — Washington’s Birthday, also known as Presidents Day and Columbus Day.
Today, take a moment to honor Dr. Kings’ work and reflect on his dream for America. Or find out how you can participate in the national day of service and volunteer on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that.
Martin Luther King, Jar.
My granddaughter and my youngest son were born 20 years apart but on the same day. The picture in the heart frome is of when she was one year old and he was twenty one and we celebrated their birthdays together. This picture has been a part of my Valentine decorations for a long time. What sweethearts they both are. For my granddaughter its a very special day celebrating her 20th on the 20th day of the year 2020. For my son he’s celebrating a double 20 and is 40. A double 20 on the 20th day of 2020. A very special day for them both !
I haven’t yet sent out their cards to wish them a happy Birthday. I’m still in vacation mode and didn’t get any cards yet. But they will soon be in the mail as these are two more of my long-distance celebrations.
Today is a day off from school for most everybody and there will be no mail service and banks will be closed. Our winter weather advisory will finally expire at 10:00 am and the high for today will be only 25 degrees. Brrrchill!
I’m hoping to get out today as I’m quite tired of being housebound with the weather. I have a few errands to run and won’t be out very long, but at least I’ll get out of the house. I’ll just bundle up and brave the cold. When we went out for church yesterday, the roads were quite clear so I’m hoping it’ll be the same today. We’ll see…
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS

What a great day to celebrate !
Happy Birthday to your granddaughter and your son, Ma! How special that they share their birthday together and this milestone one with turning 20 and 40! I hope they both have great days! Schools, banks, government buildings, etc., are closed here too for MLK holiday. I know there is a parade scheduled to honor him later today here in town. Brrr with your temps, but I agree, sometimes cabin fever makes us get out of the house and get some things done. Be safe!
betty
Happy birthday blessings to DS#6 and your granddaughter! That's pretty neat about the dates aligning the way in which they do. A favorable omen, methinks.
I didn't realize MLK Day began so long ago. Gosh, 1983 seems like just last week.
Happy ☺ Birthday 🎂 🎈🎈
