ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 13TH,2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Rubber Ducky Day which honors Rubber ducks which have been around since the rise of the rubber industry in the late 1800’s. But no one knows their exact origin. Jim Henson performed the song, Rubber Duckies, as Ernie on Sesame Street and the rugged duck bath toy has been and iconic American symbol ever since.
It is said that in January of 1992 , a shipment of 29,000 rubber duckies fell off a cargo ship in the Pacific Ocean. By 2007 the friendly floates had traveled 17,000 miles around the world on ocean currents. Some are still afloat today. Over time people have reported seen them in places such as Australia , Indonesia, South American, The Bering Strait , the Arctic and in the Atlantic Ocean.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Get all your ducks in a row.
While I don’t have any pictures of rubber ducks, I do have some of ducks and Canadian geese here in our neighborhood. They are always a delight to see and watch. We happened to see a group of them on our way to church yesterday. With all the up and down weather we are having, apparently they think it is Spring and have returned from wherever they go to in the winter. It’s most unusual to see them this time of year.
The weather is playing havoc with us humans too, there are lots of colds going around, so remember to take your vitamin C and eat your oranges. Now that I’ve had a taste of fresh Florida oranges. I’ll be looking for them in the store from now on. We saw lots of oranges being loaded up by the truck loads while on vacation so surely some of them will make their way north.
As we prepare to paddle off into a new week, lets try to remember and and feel the peacefulness of the reassurance that all things are possible.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!!

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
That’s my gift. I let that negativity roll off me like water off a duck’s back.If it’s not positive , I didn’t hear it. If you can overcome that, fights are easy.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Ducks are fun creatures whether they are real or rubber. Hav e a happy Rubber Duckies Day!
I liked that song from Sesame Street with Ernie and his rubber duck. He sure liked him! I see rubber ducks in the store as different characters like cowboys, fire men, police, etc. They are always so cute! I have seen the big snow geese here. Mainly on golf courses, probably because of the water there. Even summertime they are here! We are due to warm up this week to the low 70s. I am looking forward to that!

We don't see them often, but I sure enjoy watching the wild geese when they visit a big pond down the street.
That story of the 29,000 rubber ducks gone overboard is precious. I may try and find (that) human-interest story on line and share on my Facebook page. Goodness knows, social media could stand a dose of Rubber Duckies Day. :)
Your post is do much fun and up lifting. I like your phrase: if you can't see the bright side polish the dull side:)
