ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY, JANUARY 17TH,2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Diitch Your New Years Resolutions Day which is a day thought to be the day when huge numbers of people give up on all those resolutions you made two weeks ago on New Years Day. But think about it , is it easier to slip back into old habits, or is it better to hold on to your New Years resolutions . You can do it if you want to.
Making resolutions is a tradition most common in the Western Hemisphere, but also can be found in the Eastern Hemisphere, in which a person promises to do an act of self improvement or something slightly nice such as opening doors for people beginning New Years Day. Some other examples include resolutions to donate to the poor more often, to become more assertive, or to be come more environmentally responsible.
Whatever your reason, you can relax and stop feeling guilty about breaking them. After all resolutions are meant to be broken.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering, It will be happier.
Alfred Lord Tennyson
.The only resolution I made for the New Year was to try and be better than I was last year and so far, I think I’m failing. My Christmas decorations are still not put away. But I did take time to put together a vision board for 2020 with my goals listed so I’ll not forget what they are, and that is pictured above.
They say it’s a good thing to put it someplace where you’ll see it often and I’ve got it right here on my desk so I can see it when I sit down to be on the computer. I think we can all do whatever we set our minds to if we want to. It’s a matter if we want to do it or not.If you can believe you can do it then you will. The important thing is to try.
Our weather is supposed to turn quite wintry here for the weekend with some snow, then freeing rain and temps dropping down below zero wind chill, so I suppose that except for church on Sunday, I’ll propably just stay in. Maybe I’ll finally get the Christmas things cleared away. It’s so close to time to put up Valentine decorations, that I may just get them out while I’m at it. That is what my pictures are of today. They will brighten things up a bit around here
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
When we once begin to form good resolutions, God gives us every opportunity of carrying them out.
Henry Moore
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7781. for a list of goals to aim for
7782. for decorations that brighten my days
7783. for my warm and cozy home
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The New year stands before us like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals.
Melody Beattie
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Set your goals and keep focused...
I like your vision board, Ma, and it is all doable! Just work on it a little at a time and you'll be amazed at the progress you will make in the coming year! I'm sure you are still decompressing from your wonderful trip and its hard to get back to the gloom of your weather, but I bet in the coming days you'll "perk" up and get the Christmas decorations put away and start thinking signs of spring!

Huh. Who'd a thunk it? A day dedicated to the giving up on resolutions... if that doesn't beat all! Me? I don't make new year's resolutions. Not because I don't think it's important to aim for self-improvement, but because I think it should be more of an ongoing thing, rather than a once-a-year well-intentioned list of promises to self that are too often destined to fail. Which I don't think you've done, by the way. Being a better self, as you intended, doesn't rely on the mundane things you do, like putting away those decorations, but on who you ARE and the way you treat other people. Your posts uplift everyone who reads them, and I betcha you're the kind of person who's naturally uplifting to everyone you meet in person, too. That, in my book, is a HUGE success.
Have a super weekend. Stay warm! (Sounds like soup weather!)
I, too, like your Vision Board! Realistic!
Since we've still no answers -- or even a plan in place -- re. Tom's condition, I feel like I'm swimming in circles and unable to make plans. Yes, that's a bunch of hooey and I need to snap out of it. As you've said, time stops for no-one.
