ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12TH,2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!!

Today is National Poinsettia Day which is the perfect day to purchase a poinsettia They are blossoming plants with beautiful red and green foliage, which makes them a very popular doing the holiday season.
Although Poinsettias are native to Mexico, 90 percent are exported from the United States. The Aztecs considered poinsettias a symbol of purity because of their brilliant red color.
Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first US ambassador to Mexico introduced these gorgeous flowers to the United States in the 1820’s. While visiting Mexico, Poinsett found the flowers growing on a hillside and sent some to his home in South Carolina. The flowers grew well in his greenhouse and Poinsett began distributing them. The name poinsettia soon became the accepted name of the flower in English speaking countries.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
From home to home, and heart to heart, from one place to another. The warmth and joy of Christmas, brings us closer to each other.
Emily Matthews
Right now the only poinsettias I have are artificial ones. I have several scattered through the house for decoration. I even put some in the flower boxes on the carport since they looked so forlorn sitting there empty..They certainly put a festive look on things with their bright color.
The last of the leaves have finally left the trees here so I’m also sharing a picture of the house showing the bare trees behind it. Leaf work is finally done for the season. Next will come shoveling snow. Nature tends to keep me busy. That is a good thing as I need the exercise. Every season offers some yard work of one kind or another.
Thankfully I have a trip south planned to help keep my spirits up as the days grow colder and colder.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!!

Poinsettias are known as the Christmas flower...
How my mother loves the poinsettias! While living in Florida, I tried planting them -- to no avail. One of the Florida theme parks -- I think it was 'Downtown Disney' used to erect a giant Christmas tree made entirely from potted poinsettias.
I like both the white and red poinsettias. They always seem to be popular in church decorations for Christmas! I bet you are glad to be done with leaf duty for this year! Hopefully the snow will not come often so you can get your exercise shoveling it but it doesn't wear you out!
