ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14TH,2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Gingerbread Decorating Day which is a day to make your own gingerbread cookies and then proceed to Decorate them It can be fun for the whole family
Gingerbread can be decorated with many different things from simple icing made from just water and icing sugar to more creative icings like lemon and buttercream. Gingerbread can also be made into a cookie sandwich with delectable fillings made with vanilla or lemon cream, orange buttercream and even ice cream!
It your feeling particularly ambitious you could even decide to make a gingerbread house. They can be decorated with anything like gumdrops, candy canes and peppermints.
Decorated gingerbread cookies can be exchanged , eaten or hung up on Christmas trees for decoration. Gingerbred tends to keep for long period of time so there is no need to worry that they will rot or crumble.
From the 17th century onwards gingerbread was sold in monasteries and pharmacies in England, where it was thought to have medicinal properties. Gingerbread became the symbol of Market Drayton, which was particularly known for it. In 1875 the gingerbread man were first introduced to holiday traditions through a fairytale published in St. Nicholas magazine where he was depicted as a holiday treat that was eventually eaten by a hungry fox. Run, run, run fast as you can, You’ll never catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!
I hope you have a SUPER Saturday!
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Here’s an interesting fact: how you eat a gingerbread man, says a lot about your personality. Head first eaters are ambitions, independent and magnetic. First feet eaters are the more artistic, creative types and those who start with the hands are kind and nurturing.
Same rules apple to chocolate Easter Bunnies.

Today’s pictures are from a few years past when we gathered to make gingerbread houses . It’s really easier when you get a kit with everything you need to make them. But we did it from scratch. Using graham crackers instead of gingerbread. This is one holiday tradition that tastes as good as it looks. I usually eat as much candy as I decorate with. Oh No! I’ll probably be in need of diet before this Christmas is over with.
Today’s recipe, in case you’d like to make some cookies

Ginger is among the healthiest and most delicious spices on the planet. It is loaded with nutrients and compounds that have been use to help with degestion and help fight the flue and the common cold.
It’s the 3rd Sunday of Advent tomorrow and we light the pink candle along with two purple ones. The pink candle represents Joy!

That did look like fun to decorate those houses, Ma! Cute idea to do as a family too! I have seen the kits in the stores and one year the kids and me made them. It was a fun delicious thing to do!

Last year, I made Christmas cookies with four of our grandchildren, and it was a blast. Much to my surprise, (and their parents) the kids followed my directions perfectly, took turns beautifully and without any squabbling, so we all had fun. It'd be great to make gingerbread houses with them... maybe next year. This year, my immune-suppressed hubby and I won't be visiting the little germ-filled cuties. :)
I LOVE anything with ginger … and your building party is no exception. A few years ago my workplace thought it would be fun for each department to make its own gingerbread house. Not. Despite the fact I consume gingerbread man 'feet first', I'm not particularly creative; in fact, more of the building 'materials' wound up all over my face and hands than on the house.
