ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SUNDAY, DECEMBER 29TH,2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Pepper Pot Day, which is a day to make some thick tasty soup, first Created December 29th, 1777. During the Revolutionary War the Continental Army experienced an exceptionally harsh winter in Vally Forge. The soldiers were low on food because the farmers in the area sold all their supplies to the Britich Army for cash other than the weak currency that the Continental soldiers could offer.
Christopher Ludwich, the baker general of the Continental Army gathered what food he could find to feed the frail soldiers. The chef was able to find scrapes of tripe, meat and some peppercorn.. He mixed the ingredients tother with some other seasonings and created the hot spicy soup we now know as pepper pot. It became known as the soup that won the war.
To celebrate this historic dish, try making some of your own soup today, It’s the perfect way to warm up on a chilly December day.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Soup is the song of the hearth and the home.
Louis Pullig De Gouy
It’s a December Day all right, but it’s not chilly where I am, It is very tropical here with warm and sunny weather. Still I think soup always hits the spot so maybe there will be some in our future.
A year ago today we were gathered at DS#3’a house for our family get together and that is what today’s picture are of.
Back home it’s in the 40’s which isn’t bad for December at all but here it is supposed to be 82 degrees today. All the kids finally made it in by last might and we’re going to meet up later at the beach, weather permitting.
It was another late night here for me and believe it or not, I’ve not taken a nap since I’ve been here. Too busy relaxing and enjoying being with my family..
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
There is nothing like soup. it is by nature eccentric. no two are ever alike, unless of course you get your soup in a can.
Laurie Colwin
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7727. a warm bowl of soup on a cold day
7728. for innovative chefs,
7729. for our army who won the war
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Soup puts the heart at ease calms down the violence of hunger, eliminates tension of the day, and awakens and refines the appetite.
Aguste Escoffier
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

I can see why people go to Florida for the winter...
I can, too! Even though it's a nice winter day in NYC, the 80s sound good to me.
You in Florida are about 30 degrees warmer than we are! Frost on our roofs and windshields this morning! So glad you are able to enjoy the warm weather and the warmth of being together with family!

I'm so glad you're all getting to enjoy nice weather. Not often, but Florida can get really, really cold. I recall one Christmas (in Tampa) when the demand for heat caused brown-outs across several counties.
Pepper Pot soup! I have never heard of it until I just read it on your post! How fascinating, I just looked it up. There are several recipes out there, I want to try them all!
We have very mild weather in Georgia right now, I am enjoying it. In fact, today it was a bit TOO warm! HA! Take care! xx
