ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7TH,2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day which honors and commentates the fallen US citizens who were killed in the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. the attack of the Japanese Imperial Naay on Honolulu’s Pearl Harbor occurred on December 7, 1941 and resulted in the United States entrance into World War II. President Franklin Roosevelt described it as a date which will live in infamy.
The USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor is one of th most visited places in Hawaii. Today we honor those who lost their lives or were injured on December 7, 1941 and we remember this fateful event that played such a pivotal role in US History.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Peace on earth will come to stay when we live Christmas every day.
Helen Steniner Rice.
It’s so very sad to think of all the lives that were lost by war. I’m one that prays daily for Peace on Earth, Good will to all men.
It was a song that was sung by the Angels the night that our dear Lord was born. And one wish we cauld all profit by.
It’s a quiet and peaceful day here at my house, which is really nothing very different, but something to be thankful for this time of year. The only thing on my agenda is cooking up something for the weekend and since it’s Christmas, I thought I’d share a recipe for a casserole for the folks that are busy and don’t have time to cook.
Cheesy Chili Hash Brown Bake
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1 can sloppy joy sauce
1 can chili with beans
1/2 package froaine shredded hash brows, about 4 c.
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 425 degrees Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium high heat, stirring often . Sir in sloppy joe sauce and chili
Spoon chilli mixture into lightly greased 13 by 9 inch baking dish.. Top with frozen hash browns. Bake covered at 425 degrees for 30 minutes, uncover and bake 10 are minutes or until browned and crisp. Sprinkle with cheese and bake 5 more minutes or until cheese is melted.
Nothing fancy but certainly sounds quick and easy and I happen to have all the ingredients on hand. .
Today’s pictures are a few of my decorations that sit atop my old buffet/ sideboard, here at my house. I decorate it like some would decorate a fireplace mantle, because I have no fireplace. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
It is Christmas every time you let God love others though you. yes, it is Christmas every time you smile at your brother and offer him your hand.

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety

they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters

May Peace be your Gift at Christmas
Good morning! I’m visiting while I have my coffee in bed! I love your long necked reindeer!
Thank you for another good recipe! I took a screen shot of it and will make it soon for Louis Dean. He sometimes asks, “Can you make something with a lot of flavor?” He had most of his teeth crowned a few years ago and insists that the dentist “murdered my taste buds!”
Remember the potato soup recipe you posted? It is our all time favorite now!
We are going to meet a young couple at Campo Verde for a late lunch or early supper at 4:00 this afternoon. Then they have invited us to their house for dessert and coffee! She posted a pic of the dessert she made and it made me feel like royalty! We haven’t been invited for dessert and coffee anywhere in YEARS! I don’t think people entertain like they used to.....
Anyway, I am super excited!
Always love each and every visit with you!
YUM … comfort food!
While the tragedy at Pearl Harbor occurred before I was born, its anniversary was a pivotal part of my growing years. Like 9/11, December 7 should always live in infamy. I pray we, as a nation, will learn something from history. Wishing you a sweet, relaxing day!
I saw the remembrance on the news today. I hope it is a day that is always remembered and that future generations are always taught about it. Such tragedies indeed with those who have lost their lives protecting our freedom. So thankful for them! That recipe looks delicious! Your house does look like you are getting ready to celebrate Christmas!

Forgiving was essential for peace. Forgetting is impossible. Germany has many poignant memorials throughout the country. NEVER FORGET is printed upon them.
We visited Hawaii a few years ago, toured the Arizona memorial, and felt the intense sorrow many experience.
That day is history changed many lives forever. My Dad fought in the war that followed and many more died but he made it home. It is hard to imagine the chaos that must have been rampant. I love the plain table cloth and the cute decorations, very homey. I am always surprised that you make such a large serving recipe, either you don't mind eating the same thing many days in a row or you freeze some.
