ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR MONDAY, DECEMBER 23RD,2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!!

Today is Roots Day which is the perfect time to celebrate your roots. Many people take their family history and ancestry for granted and never take the time to learn about the struggles and triumphs of their ancestors and the history of their family name.
It is our genealogy that makes us who we are today, so take time to sit down with your older relatives and talk to them about the past. You may hear some funny stories an learn a few things about the past that you never knew before.
It’s also a good day to create a family tree. There are several websites that can help you . Enjoy National Roots Day.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Good parents give their children Roots and Wings. Roots to know where home is, wings to fly away and exercise what’s been taught them.
Jonas Salk
The house I live in isn’t the one my children grew up in. I’ve only lived here a few years now. But I think home is wherever my family is. Whenever I am with them, it feels like home to me. A home is where we think of putting down roots. I still live in the same town, I was born and raised in so I would say I have roots here. There aren’t many relatives left in my family that are older than me anymore. What I know about my roots came from my Mom and Dad and they are no longer living. I wish I had asked more questions , but now it’s too late. So my advice would be to ask the questions while you can.
My family tree is wide and varied. I have ancestors that came to the US from many countries and I know very little about any of them. But it is because of them, that I am here today. I do love history and read a lot so maybe that will be my goal for the new year. To read as much as I can about the times they lived in.
There are only two more days until Christmas. And the story foremost in my mind is what happened the first Christmas night. The message of Christmas reminds us that no matter what our roots are, we are all loved and all are precious and special .
The pictures today are all about trees, who put down roots and grow stronger in adversity. They are all around me.
I hope you all have a great start to this week. Happy Monday of Christmas week!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children . One of these is roots, the other, wings.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7712. for the old stories that tell of our past
7713. for my ancestors who made me what I am
7714.for a family tree to investigate
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
No matter where life takes you, don’t forget where you came from.

Home is where the heart is...
So true to ask the questions when the people are alive who can answer them. I have several non answered questions myself. Indeed home is where the heart is!
betty
It’s a sobering thought to me but I’m the third oldest person in our family. There are two cousins older than I.....
I do not know who my father is or was so putting down roots has always been important to me. I’ve lived in this same house for 52 years and raised all four of my children here. I hope to stay here until God calls me home.....but I do realize home is where your heart is. I’m thankful God has given me this house. I’ve treasured it and use it as I think he wants me too.....inviting others and extending hospitality as often as possible.
I’m so excited for your trip to Florida! Merry Christmas, sweet lady!
I, too, wish I'd asked more questions when my folks were alive. Ancestry.com can give us dates, etc. but 'coloring' inside the lines is what endures.
