ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6TH,2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is St. Nicholas Day which is a festival for children in many European countries related to the legend of the saint and particularly his reputation as a bringer of gifts. The American Santa Clause as well as the British Father Christmas derive from these legends. The name, Santa Clause itself derived from the Dutch Sinterklaas
Traditionally on the 5th of December, before going to bed, children put out their shoes next to the fireplace chimney. They leave some hay and a bowl of water nearby for his horse. The next day they will find some candy or a small present in their shoes;
Typical treats traditionally include, chocolate, mandarin oranges, peppermint, pastry filled with almond paste or the first letter of the childs name made of chocolate
.
Happy St. Nicholas Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Jolly old St. Nicholas
Lean your ear this way
Don’t you tell a single soul
What I’m going to say,
Christmas Eve is coming soon:
Whisper what you’ll bring to me.
Tell me if you can.
When the clock is sticking twelve
When I’m fast asleep
Down the chimney broad and black
With your pack, you’ll creep;
All the stockings you will find
Hanging in a row.
Mine will be the shortest one;
You’ll be sure to know
Johnny wants a pair of skates
Susy wants a dolly
Nellie wants a story book
She things dolls are folly
As for my , My little brain
isn’t very bright;
Choose for me, dear Santa Claus
What you think is right
When the babes were young and at home, we always celebrated St. Nicholas Day, It was a nice way to releive some of the tension of waiting for Christmas. Candy and small toys were put in their shoes so they would find them the next morning.
Children do add to the excitement of Christmas and last night I got to go to another Christmas concert. That is what the pictures are of today. This one was curtesy of our little X Factor. He said we complimented him so much on a job well done, that it made him blush.
Now I’m well and truly in the spirit of Christmas. It is alive and well here at my house and I think that as long as we believe. Christmas will always be.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky. So up to the housetop the coursers they flew, with the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7660. for St. Nicholas, a truly giving man
7661. for a day of celebration.
7662. for giving, it’s better than getting
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
with his best friend

The spirit of Christmas will survive as long as we believe.
How cute your grandson is, Ma! I like it that schools still have Christmas performances, though I'm sure they aren't called that any more but more like holiday ones. Its always fun to see the kids singing and performing. I do remember St. Nicholas' day growing up. Always fun having our stockings filled with nuts and little candies. An early Christmas treat indeed!

St. Nicholas Day sounds like a great tradition ...for households with little ones, that is. I do miss having 'littles' to buy for. Your X-Factor has the cutest smile. I love that y'all caused him to blush!
I have the spirit of Christmas at my house, too!! I always enjoy seeing photos of you and your family.
