ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Election Day in the USA. The General Election is held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Our founding fathers had the wisdom to create a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. It is every American's right and privilege, to vote for our government officials.
Please exercise your inalienable right and go out and vote!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The month of November makes me feel that life is passing more quickly. In an effort to slow it down, I try to fill the hours more meaningfully.
Henry Rollins
Thankfully we've been spared the political antics of a presidential election this year, but we still have plenty of candidates and issues to consider in the general election so hopefully I’ll be going out to vote at some point today. I always considerate a duty and a privilege to exercise my right to vote.
After today our rainy days are suppose to be ending for a couple of days and it will be a blessing to see the sun peep through. We are supposed to be close to 50 degrees for a high during the day but in the 30’s during the nights. There is definite crispness in the air and a little sunshine will be appreciated.
I have plenty to keep me busy as always here at my house so the days continue to fly by. As always I’m doing the best with what I’ve got and thankful for what comes my way.
I got a few pictures when I dog sat over the weekend and that is what you are seeing in my post today. The neighbors tree gave a beautiful background to the flag flying outside the window.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day
They say that chocolate is a vegetable, made from cocoa beans. Almonds are good for you, as they help to improve your Cholesterol levels. So, bittersweet chocolate with almonds is good for you. I found a new to me dessert recipe to celebrate the day
Bittersweet Chocolate, Orange and Almond Brownies
6 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup butter, cut into small pieces
3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
2 large eggs
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. grated orange zest
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
1/2 cup chopped whole almonds, lightly toasted
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter an 8 inch square baking pan. Sprinkle with flour and tap out the excess.
Place the chocolate and butter in the top of a double boiler over barely simmering water, and heat, stirring often, until melted. Remove from over the water and let cool slightly.
In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the eggs on medium speed until blended. Gradually add the sugar in a thin stream and continue to beat until the mixture is pale yellow and thickened, about 2 minutes. Reduce the speed to low and beat in the melted chocolate mixture, orange zest and orange juice. Add the flour mixture and beat just until incorporated. Stir in the almonds. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the surface.
Bake until firm and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out lightly coated but not wet, about 30 minutes. Let cool in the pan for about 30 minutes. Cut into bars and serve. Makes 12 brownies.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
November's sky is chill and drear,
November's leaf is red and sear…
Walter Scott

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Such a pretty tree! So colorful. We have nothing on our ballot today, but I agree it is a privilege to go out to vote.
