ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Housewife Day which recognizes the importance of stay at home wives and moms. These wonderful, caring creatures, build and enrich strong family environments. They help to instill family values and good character.
Housewife is an old term. It hails back to the days when one income could support the family in a manner of comfort. It was also a time when women did not have equal rights. While these days are long gone, women views of working or staying at home, fall on both sides of the fence. The decision to be a housewife, or stay at home mom, is still preferred by many. Unfortunately, income needs often necessitate going to work.
Today, we celebrate and thank all of the ladies who choose to stay home and tend to the house and family!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The home is the center and circumference, the start and the finish, of most of our lives.
Charlotte Perkins Gilman
While I had to work outside of the home for most of my adult life, I did have the opportunity to stay at home for 12 wonderful years when my children were young. I loved being a mom and a housewife. Only necessity made me go back to work and kept me there until I was able to retire. These days of retirement have been wonderful and have given me a chance to do some things I never could have when working.
Even back then it was a challenge to raise a large family on one income and DDH even worked two jobs at times so that we could make ends meet. He was a great husband and dad for sure.
These days I keep house but am no longer a wife, but am a widow. I have family but none at home. Still this is a place where I want them all to feel at home when they visit and know that they are always welcome. I’ve always felt that a house is a house and not a home till love resides inside.
There is a lot to be said for those moms that do work outside the home too. Most do double duty and their work never ends. I know because I’ve been there and done that. I never realized how busy one person could get until I worked a full time job and had a family. One thing I know for sure is that I could never have done it with out the help of my family. They all pitched in and helped a lot.
Today I’m putting away what few Halloween decorations I had out but the rest of the Fall trinkets will remain till Thanksgiving. I have a Thanksgiving table cloth with with turkey’s on it to replace the one with fall leaves. and my little stuffed Turkey that does a dance will come out of storage too.
Due to the cold I’ve had, I didn’t get a lot done around here, but I’m better now and hopefully next week will be a better one too. Lots to do before the Holidays come.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Sandwich Day
Today is a celebration of one of America's favorite foods: the sandwich! It is no coincidence that November 3 is also the birthday of John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich. This 18th century English noble wanted to eat his meal with one hand during a 24 hour gambling event, so he instructed his servants to serve him his lunchmeat between two slices of bread. To commemorate the birth of the world's first sandwich maker, November 3 is now National Sandwich Day!
It is said that the Hamburger is the most popular sandwich in America and that Chicken sandwiches are a close second. So today I thought I would share a new to me recipe with a twist on the classic Hamburger.
Bacon Cheeseburger Roll Ups
Serves 4
1 lb ground beef
4 slices bacon, chopped
1 onion, chopped
8 oz, Velveeta cheese cut into cubes
1 pkg. refrigerated pizza crust
Garnich: Ketchup and mustard
Brown hamburger until no longer pink. Add onion and bacon and cook about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally .Add cheese until melted. Remove from heat and let cool 10 minutes.
Unroll crust onto a backing sheet that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Spread hamburger mixture on crust and roll up crust and mixture. Place on baking sheet upside down.
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Let roll sit for 5 minutes before serving as the inside will continue to cook.
Push the button on his hand and he dances to Turkey in the Straw!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The most important things in your home are people.
Barbara Johnson
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5404. for the time I was able to be a house wife
5405. for sandwiches that make a meal
5406. for my home, a house filled with love
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
By home, we mean a place in which the mind can settle… a refuge to which we flee in the expectation of finding those calm pleasures, those soothing kindnesses, which are the sweetness of life.
James Bean
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

I had the best of both worlds. I could be home with the kids and still earn some money. I do like the ability to work at home. I think I am going to try that hamburger recipe. Looks delicious.

National Sandwich Day. Maybe that will solve my dinner decision. I wonder why so many families cannot support a stay at home mom. Is it really more expensive or do we just have more wants??
For most of my 'growing' years, my mother stayed home sewing and knitting and cooking, oh-my. How I wish my father and I voiced our appreciation more often.
I'll bet the little ones would love that hamburger recipe!
We're off to the Deep South in a few hours, and I'll be off line for the next 9-10 days ... but will be sure and follow you via my cell!
