ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is World Peace Day which encourages us to be kind to others, and teach others to be peaceful.
Each individual can play a role in making the world a better place. It all starts with us. We can teach our children and others, in ways to promote peace, and avoid war. Without peace, the consequences is tragic.
Please do your part to promote peace on this day. If we all act on this issue, we theoretically could make war and strife obsolete.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The basis of world peace is the teaching which runs through almost all the great religions of the world. Love they neighbor as thyself.
Eleanor Roosevelt
Peace is something we all want. Peace in our world, our homes and in our hearts. I think we each are responsible for and capable of bringing peace with us wherever we go.
Peace is about living harmoniously with yourself and others. One thing I know for sure, maybe two is that where there is love there is peace. And when we put faith, love and hope together, peace exists. Love is the bond of fellowship, the foundation of peace, the link and strength of unity.
It’s looking like a peaceful day here for the end of the week. It’s going to be partly sunny and we’ll have temps around 45 degrees. As usual I didn’t get done with everything I wanted to, but I’m happy with with what is.
After I got the yard work done the other day I took more pictures of the trees around here and that is what is in this post today. There are times I wish the leaves would just let go so I could be done with them, but other times I’m thankful for the beauty they bring into my life everyday and I’ll miss them when they are gone.
I hope you all have aFANTASTIC Friday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Homemade Bread Day
Bread has been made for thousands of years. Estimates date it's origin back to 5000-10,000 B.C. Modern day lifestyles has relegated homemade bread to the world of specialty baking and holiday baking. People just don't have time to bake home made bread. We turn to a quick run to bakeries and grocery stores, for our bread needs. The arrival of automatic bread makers has created a small resurgence of home made breads, especially specialty breads.
Most of the breads I make are called quick breads. They don’t need yeast. One of my favorites is Banana Bread because I always have some overripe bananas on hand. But because it is getting close to Thanksgiving I found this recipe to share today.
Pumpkin Nut Bread
1 cup Fresh or Canned Pumpkin
2 cups Sifted Flour
1 cup Sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 cup Milk
1/4 cup Soft Butter or margarine
1 cup Chopped Walnuts
2 teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
1 teaspoon Salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Stir together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and spices.
In a separate large bowl, combine pumpkin, sugar, milk and eggs.
Add dry ingredients, and butter to pumpkin mixture until well blended. Mix in chopped nuts.
Pour into greased loaf pans. Bake in oven for 45 to 55 minutes. Check with a toothpick. It is done when it comes out clean
Makes 2 small loaves
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Love is, above all, the gift of oneself.
Jean Anouilh
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5446. for peace, a precious gift from God
5447. for our daily bread
5448. for love, it makes the world go round
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Peace begins with a smile. Smile five times a day at someone you don't really want to smile at at all. Do it for peace.
Mother Teresa of Calcutta
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I love your tree pictures Pam! What a colourful time of year! I like the idea of a World Peace Day! I wish every day was World Peace Day! Your pumpkin Bread looks very tasty! I love quick breads! Especially banana bread. I have my own favourite recipe for that which used sour cream. It’s simply wonderful! This is the time of year for pumpkin however! Happy Friday! Xoxo
There is nothing I love more than the smell of fresh bread baking. We used to have a Rainbow bakery in town and it always smelled so good downtown. Now they are gone and so is the wonderful smells. Peace to you on World Peace Day
Yum, few things smell better than a baking loaf of bread. My hubby has diabetes, so I don't bake nearly as much as I used to.
It's too bad World Peace Day doesn't work some kind of magic that actually ends wars. I know. One day at a time, right?
I recently made several loaves of banana nut bread and brought to my son in Alabama. The buttermilk seems to enhance its moistness, but now I'm curious about Marie's sour cream. Wonderful aroma, for sure.
