ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today Giving Tuesday which always takes place on the Tuesday directly after our American Thanksgiving. Giving Tuesday was created to help the giving season get started, reminding people that there is more to holidays than consumerism and commercialization.
There are thousands of charity organizations the world over, many of which are likely located somewhere near you. Every single one of them could use your help, so find a cause that is especially important to you personally, whether it’s fighting a certain type of cancer, helping to
buy schoolbooks for children from very poor families, or helping the animals at your local animal shelter.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
To perceive Christmas through its wrappings becomes more difficult with every year.
Elwyn Brooks White
The Holiday Season is now underway and it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas every where you go. This time of year we see the Salvation Army Bell ringers on just about every corner. I never miss a chance to donate. It’s not usually very much but I think every little bit makes a difference.
Our church has a giving tree where you pick a snowflake from the tree with someones name on it and then donate a gift for Christmas. There are places to donate food, coats and blankets and our town has a Not Forgotten Box for Toys for unfortunate children too. The opportunities to give are unlimited.
In a world where so many have so much there is no reason that anyone should go without.
They are saying we may be close to 60 degrees today. That is almost unbelievable for us this time of year. I will be taking advantage of the beautiful weather and get outside to work in the yard.
We’ve had some very cold days and even some snow, so a day like this is really appreciated.
And with all this nice weather many have put up their Christmas Decorations. I took some of today’s pictures on Saturday at DS#5’s house. The one directly below is of our little X Factor in front of his tree this year and the last one is of our Sunshine Boys. I didn’t take either of those, but they were shared by DD and DDIL#4. Thank you !
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s French Toast Day which can be enjoyed for any meal time: breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Try French toast with male syrup, sugar, cinnamon, whipped cream, or fruits. Better yet, use a combination of these. Recipes were common back in medieval Europe, where eggs and milk were often used to soften and stale breads, then cook them. Often, other leftovers were added.
I discovered this easy baked french toast casserole several years ago when preparing breakfast for a crowd when I had family home for a holiday. You can make it and bake it or put it in the fridge overnight and bake in the morning.
Easy French Toast Casserole
1 loaf DAY OLD French or other crusty bread, 14 to 16 ounces
6 eggs
2 cups milk
3/4 cup half and half
1/2 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
For topping
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 Tablespoons cold butter
Cut bread into cubes or tear into small pieces. Place in a greased 9 by 13 inch baking pan. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, half and half, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour over bread in the pan. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl combine brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Cut butter into small pieces and add to flour mixture. With a fork blend butter into mixture until it resembles small crumbs; sprinkle over bread in the pan.
Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. To check, shake the casserole. If it wiggles a lot it's not done. Continue to bake until it cooked through completely.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
If you have much, give of your wealth; if you have little, give of your heart.
Proverb
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5479. for giving, it’s better to give than receive
5480. for breakfast for dinner, french toast is good
5481. for a beautiful day
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

Good Morning! It’s 57 degrees here in the DFW area and will get up to 77 this afternoon. No rain in forecast all week and that’s good since I’ve got a ton of decorations strung out all over the back patio! I will be decorating all day every day for at least a week! Sometimes I wonder why I can’t dial it back a little but then I have to dig through all the tubs anyway so I might as well put it all up! It’s so much easier to undecorate!
Thank you for the French Toast casserole. I did a screen shot from my iPad and I’ll print it off!
God bless you today as you work in the yard!
Festive pictures you shared here :) Hubby got the outside lights hung over the weekend and I'll be doing a little decorating today inside. Glad your weather is being nice today so you can enjoy some more outdoor time!
betty
That casserole sounds right up my alley! Tom's sis and BIL will be here the week before Christmas, so I'm going to make this and stick in the frig to pop out the next morning. Easy, peasy!
Your temps sounds unusually warm, Ma. We broke a record Thanksgiving Day - 89 stinkin degrees. Nevertheless, it still beats the heck out of 115.
It was warm here in northmost Indiana today too, MA. Perhaps a little reprieve before the snow flies. We shall see. Love your blog entry & pictures, as always. XOXO
I always love your family pictures. I would love French Toast but have been avoiding bread, which is not easy. And that weather!! Can you believe it! Ours is always about the same as yours. Have a great day!!
