ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Chaos Never Dies Day which recognizes the turmoil in modern, everyday life.
Just when things seem to calm down at work and home, along comes something to disrupt your life. Yes, disorder is everywhere. Hectic schedules, changes to plans, unexpected tasks and chores, the list goes on and on and on.
It's a day to recognize the chaos in your life. You can best celebrate this day, by recognizing that chaos never dies. Rather, its a way of life.
On the bright side: If you think your life is chaotic today, just wait until the holiday season arrives.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I love the quiet calmness before the world is just waking up. That amazing moment before the chaos of the day starts. Mornings are magical.
Keith Wynn
I do love mornings. Even when I worked I always got up and extra hour early just to enjoy the peaceful quiet before the busyness of the day began.
Now that I’m retired I still get up early. It’s a habit that I can’t break. I make my morning coffee, read my devotionals for the day, write my newsletter and have another cup of coffee. After all these years, I’m pretty set in my ways and have found this is the best way to start my day.
I’m planning on getting out for a hair cut and a bit of shopping today. I don’t need much but the milk in the fridge has expired and who knows just what else I’ll find. Seems like I can never go into a store and come out with just one thing.
Last night our temps went down to below freezing but we’re to warm up to 50 degrees today with a chance sunshine.
Sorry there are no new pictures to show today, just more of the house and the trees. I will miss the colorful leaves when they are gone, but I’ve got lots of pictures to remember them by.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Scrapple Day! Scrapple is similar in both composition and taste to British white pudding. Its name comes from the fact that it is composed of scraps of pork combined with cornmeal and spices. The mixture is formed into a mostly solid loaf, and then it is sliced and panfried before serving.
Scrapple is arguably the first pork food invented in America. It was created more than 200 years ago by Dutch colonists who settled near Philadelphia.
Scrapple is typically eaten for breakfast, topped with syrup or ketchup. In some regions of the United States, it is mixed with scrambled eggs.
Scrapple is very similar to cornmeal mush but with meat in it.
Cornmeal Scrapple
1 cup white or yellow cornmeal
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 3/4 cups boiling water
8 ounces bulk pork sausage, cooked, drained and crumbled
flour
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
Maple syrup, optional
In a saucepan, combine the cornmeal, milk, sugar and salt; gradually stir in water. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat; cook, covered, 10 minutes longer or until very thick, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and stir in sausage. Pour into a greased loaf pan, the pan will be very full. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerator.
To serve, unmold and cut into 1/3 inch slices. Dip both sides in flour. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat; brown scrapple on both sides. Serve with maple syrup if desired. Yield: 6 servings.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
Melody Beattie
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5422. for quiet mornings
5423. for old recipes that endure the test of time
5424. for the coming holidays, preparation is half the fun
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Chaos is a name for any order that produces confusion in our minds.
George Santayana

A bit of love from someone dear…

I love the quote "Life is a special occasion." I'll try to remember that when that special occasion becomes particularly hectic! There are days when the chaos becomes particularly overwhelming. I spent several hours last night editing a paper for someone only to find out that she had revised and updated it and wanted that newer version updated instead of the earlier one. I also missed a meeting last night because in my mind--and on my calendar--I had it down for tonight! I'm telling myself that tomorrow will be better--especially since it's Friday!
