ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Thanksgiving Day which is a very important holiday, especially in the busy lives of Americans. It is a time to kick back and relax, watch a football game or go to a movie, and enjoy a huge feast. It's also time for us to give thanks to our God, for the things he has bestowed upon us and upon this great nation. There is no nation in the world that has more to be thankful for than us.
Thanksgiving traditions revolve around a huge and lavish meal, usually with Turkey as the centerpiece. For those who do not like Turkey, a Roast or Prime Rib is common. As tradition has it in most families, a special prayer of thanks precedes the meal. In many homes, family members will each mention something they are very thankful for.
I am very thankful for my family !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
For today and its blessings, I owe the world an attitude of gratitude.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone ! This time last year I was visiting with my two out of state boys, DS#2 and DS#4, and their families and that is what the pictures are of today. I don’t often get to celebrate with these two sons so it was an extra special occasion. DDIL#4 always makes her own homemade noodles for Thanksgiving and this year will be no different. No doubt they’ll also be making Sausage Bread which has become a family tradition for the holidays.
I’m spending a quiet day here as our family gathering will be on Saturday. I’ve had invitations to join in other’s celebrations, but I prefer to spend the day at home and will probably start to put up my Christmas decorations…we’ll see.
I pulled a container of homemade Leftover Turkey Soup out of the freezer to have for my Thanksgiving dinner. Nice to have something I only have to heat up and enjoy. It’s going to be a busy day!
I try to give THANKS every day, but today is set aside especially for Thanks!
I hope you all have a THANKFUL Thursday and a very Happy Thanksgiving!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is Eat a Cranberry Day!
Native to North America, cranberries are grown in bogs, and are primarily grown in New England. When the pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, they found Native Americans harvesting them, and eating them. Native Americans also used them as dyes for clothing, and for medicinal purposes.
I recently bought some fresh cranberries and was looking for a recipe to use them in and this is what I found.
Cranberry Christmas Cake
I’ll be making it for Thanksgiving.
3eggs
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
12 oz fresh cranberries
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. With a mixer, beat the eggs with the sugar until slightly thickened and light in color, about 5 to 7 minutes. The mixture should almost double in size. The eggs work as your leavening agent in this recipe, so do not skip this step. This mixture should form a ribbon when you lift the beaters out of the bowl. Add the butter and vanilla; mix two more minutes. Stir in the flour until just combined. Add the cranberries and stir to mix throughout.
Spread in a buttered 9 by 13 pan. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until very lightly browned and a toothpick inserted near the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool completely before cutting into small slices. Makes 16 servings
COUNTING MY GIFTS
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.
Melody Beattie
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

That cranberry cake looked interesting. Yum on your soup! Great pictures from last year's celebrations!

Goodness, it's hard to believe it's been a year since your trip!
I love the idea of making sausage bread.
As a girl, I shuddered at the thought of eating that (wriggly) cranberry mold. This last year, however, I've become hooked on drinking Cranberry juice and water.
Despite spending it on your own, I hope that you have had a lovely Thanksgiving. Homemade turkey soup can't be beaten! My mom always made a lovely soup after Thanksgiving. I am sure you are looking forward to Saturday, but I have enjoyed your photos from last year. Your cake recipe looks delicious. I am sure everyone on Saturday will enjoy it alot! Hope your Friday is a great one. Thanks so much for all that you share with us Pam. You are such a dear, dear special spirit! xoxo
